She became aware before she was truly alive. Aware of a rocking motion to and fro, gentle as if rocking her back to sleep; she had no idea what had truly awoken her. She stayed in that drowsy state for who knows how long, drifting in and out before she stretched. A loud crack sounded around her, hurting her sensitive ears as she cowered further into herself and away from the brightness invading her warm shell. The smells had changed when the crack happened, creating a curious bubbling inside of her mind; she needed to know what had happened. What had changed.

Eyes opening for the first time were blinding by the overwhelming light, she squeaked out a form of a hiss as she buried her head under her clawed feet. Only to inhale deeply and cough back out once more. Why was everything so painful? She screamed out to herself as she sneezed the light colored fine grains from inside her snout. With a begrudging moan she opened her eyes once more looking around her, the area was covered in something soft and squishy; the same thing that had gone up her snout. She stretched out hissing and swiping at the offending things under her feet, only to launch the grains into the air where they subsequently rained back down upon her spooking her back into her little egg.

Whipping her head around she found that she was all alone, soon she noticed that something was moving closer and away from her. It made her thing of the thing that rocked her back to sleep before and bravely waddled over to it. Only it was wet! She scuttled backwards a bit away from the offending texture and narrowed her eyes at it. The lightness that she had since grown accustomed to was fading and it was getting harder for her new eyes to see. A group of dragons soon came out from the water startling the young dragon who hissed and acted much more fierce than her little body could hold.

They taught her how to be a dragon.

Alydrosses spend all of her hatchling and dragonling life with this group of dragons learning all that she could, they told her that once she was an adult she would need to set out of her own. Of course she didn’t know what that had meant; why would she leave her family; as it were.

THE SEARCH

When her adulthood finally stood before her she understood; it was time to begin The Search. She left her clan and went off in search of the place that called to her; she traveled near and far before she found the place that she would protect.

Landing on the shores of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, she felt it; this would be hers to protect. Other clans were huddled around watching her from afar as she settled near the waterfall that fed into the Tsunami Flats. Just hidden behind the waterfall was a huge cavern, beautifully carved from the rock in the most natural of ways. Water from the waterfall trickled into the cavern but dipped back into a hold leading under and she assumed back towards the Tsunami Flats.

Coming back out she knew it was time to gather herself some food, seeing as none of the other dragons settled along the edges of the Tsunami Flats seemed hostile towards her she assumed it was safe enough but made sure to keep her guard up as she fished for food and plants.
