The Shadow Ambassador: Orwen
The Bogsneak who calls himself Orwen is a somewhat charismatic salesman who got his start hawking useless trinkets to unwitting travelers making their way through the Tangled Wood. If you need something to pass hands in a short amount of time, he's your man. He could sell water to the Tidelord if he wanted. Whatever piece of junk he gets his hands on can instantly turn to a treasure; after all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! At least, that's what Orwen says if he happens to get caught putting glamours on his wares. He goes through aliases with the swiftness of a Spiral. When a certain area catches on to his antics, he either hightails it out of there or crafts himself a new persona. By the time a customer realizes the crystal he sold them was really just a regular chunk of dirt, he's already made himself a new identity and fled into the nearest shadowy alley. Unfortunately, his most recent economic excursion left him penniless and surrounded by disgruntled former customers who would've liked nothing more than to see him pay for his scams. Fearing for his safety, he fled north into the Viridian Labyrinth and took on a new identity once again: Orwen, the pitiable Shadow diplomat who lost his entire clan to a rogue virus that made its way through the Foxfire Bramble. |
After a few weeks of wandering through the dense jungle growth, he came upon the Astera Clan's community, and recited his fake story to the clan leaders. They bought into his bluff and welcomed him into their ranks as a Flight Ambassador. With this new title came many perks; he received his own space within the Ambassador's Hall, and ended up with significant political sway within the clan. For all intents and purposes, he's living the high life; he's no longer on the run, and has access to everything he could ever want. But for some reason... he still feels unsafe. For Orwen, lying is second nature. It's been what's kept him afloat for his entire life. And yet, now that he is surrounded by friends rather than potential customers or vengeful buyers, he feels like his lies are going to consume him instead. Every day he wakes up and wonders if these dragons would still have a place for him if he came clean; he keeps adding lie after lie to his story for fear that the truth would destroy the little bit of peace he still has. He wonders how long this ruse can go on, and unbeknownst to his fellow Ambassadors, he is working on an escape plan in case the truth does come out and things head south. For now, though, his story is holding up, and he continues to act as a go between for any Nature/Shadow dealings. As far as anyone else knows, Orwen really is the stand up dragon he makes himself out to be. |
