aman's former childhood friend from when the two of them lived in the same area before he moved; was a cheerful force of nature that dragged him to places and he'd dutifully follow as her "guard" when they used to play together.

generous, borderline too trusting and friendly. came to the alcove just wanting to visit aman after not having seen him for so long, only to be persuaded into staying so she can teach others her craft / profit.

she also secretly stayed so she can be closer to her childhood friend (whom she harbors feelings for but refuses to act on it thinking she has no chance, unaware that aman also is struggling with the same thing), and is actually relieved to have a reason to run away from her former clan, where she suffered cruel teasings of how her charge is nothing but what many consider a petty trinket compared to something noble like another dragon.

is masking her hurt with a cheerful nature, but whenever the topic of charges come up always braces herself for ridicule. she never found it within herself to retaliate against the comments and so just tries to get used to it.

was pleasantly surprised when she received no such treatment during her stay at the alcove. even more surprised when she was complimented of her talents, after letting it be known she fashioned the veil she keeps her Charge in.

feeling safer and more appreciated in the alcove, she decided to make her visit a permanent stay, and minds a small stall where she crafts and repairs jewelry for those of the alcove and those that pass by.

esmerelda's troubles in miscommunication and love

in her former clan, she was in a relationship with another guardian, one who did not yet find his charge when they began their courtship. however, he did find his charge to be another dragon and soon became distant despite esmerelda's best efforts.

after her confronting the reason for his indifference, he revealed that he wants to break it off, having become enamored with his charge and not wanting to bear the brunt of the ridicule of courting a "guardian like her."

("foolish of you to think that a guardian would choose someone over their Charge. not that you would understand, with your useless bauble.")

so when she came to the alcove and found that not only is aman's charge the heiress of the entire place, but also had already been part of an arrangement that resulted in hatchlings being born, she does her best to ignore her feelings and not get her hopes up.

(it doesn't work.)

(she is so in denial about anything possibly happening between the two of them that she sees aman's ((poor)) attempts at initiating a courtship with her as him just being friendly.

it causes a lot of frustration to those watching this whole thing go down, specifically santonilyo, who was able to see her affection for aman since her arrival and wanted to set them up.)
