(His lore is mixed with Vita’s, Amare’s, and Idill’s).
Prince of a nearby kingdom and Knight, dearly loves Vita and is usually the one rescuing her and Amare from Idill.
Gallant has spent his life on the training grounds, practicing once, and then ten times more. His skills are like no other, praised across the lands. His ego has become as big as his typical entrance, charming the hearts of all the ladies around. His cockiness can get him into trouble however, rubbing the wrong way with the folk who are not accepted into royalty. This is what started his constant battles with the Warlord Idill, one of the only people who can match his skill level. It was after a triumphous battle when he met Vita, at a banquet held in his honor. It started off with a quick charming sentence, one that got him shot down almost immediately. She must have sensed his character already. This started his fascination with the Princess, and he began to see her kindness and loyalty to her friends. So that's what they became, with him following her around to bug her, and her brushing him off all of the time. And that's when Idill caught wind of her and her powers, and began his string of kidnappings. Each time Gallant would fight tooth and nail to rescue Vita and her Handmaiden, and so far he has succeeded in not only that, but falling head over heels for the Princess.
So, because of this, he came to her aid for the next kidnapping. And then the next. And the next. The more kidnappings that occurred, the more there started to be a change in Gallant. Slowly but surely, his arrogance and pride was replaced with humility. His dramatic puffery, bluffing through the fights and rescues by sheer talent alone (forcing Vita to usually haphazardly take the lead otherwise), was replaced with a quiet persistence, a determination not to win and be celebrated, but to protect the one he loved and truly do what was right, just because it was right. Gradually, more and more, Gallant would step up and lead, with a mixture of confidence and humility.
The kidnappings weren’t just changing Gallant. He noticed that they seemed to be having an effect on the princess as well. She began to treat him less in a cold manner, and more with gratefulness and support. Instead of the quick, scathing remarks to his flirtations, she would reply with a sweet, gentle thank you or rebuke. This changed his view of her even more, and at a deeper level, he began treating her as a lovely princess with dreams and hopes, instead of as a prize to be won, another woman to fall prey to his charms.
This humbled the arrogant Prince.
For so long, he had been told that he had to act like a prince. To stay distant from the peasants, to use the gifts and money he had. He just had never been taught what was the right way to use them. But now? He was forced to lay aside his “princely facade” and easy lifestyle to fight fiercely for Vita’s (and her handmaiden’s) rescue every time. It woke him up to the harsher realities of life, and now, he could grow from it.
Through each battle and rescue, he was learning how to persevere, stand up for what was right, show kindness, and have courage. Through each fight, more and more he is learning from his mistakes, and the horror of the fact that he was a part in what had made Idill a villain. With Vita’s support and wisdom, he has been learning how to cut off old bad habits, and begin to try and reach out to Idill. He has not yet succeeded, but now, he is sure. Every time Vita is taken, he will come for her.
He will never give up.
