Biography

A Guardian-sized Bogsneak

While most dragons with special abilities are able to keep a relatively low profile about the fact, Betelgeuse is a bit more... overt about the fact. When a group of explorers encountered him, he was the size and weight of fully grown, overly fed guardian and fending off an party of beasts that had tried to raid his cave lair. Apart from his size, he was shooting beams of magic and light, sticking them in place with explosive slime, eating them whole, and crushing them into a bloody pulp. Needless to say, he had no need of the group's help and was quick to make that fact apparent when they came in to assist him. He was thankful however and housed the group in his cave for the night.

Upon inquiry, they learned of his name and how he came to be the way he was. Far from possessing genetic adaptations, or perhaps possessing a few beforehand, his mainly came from years of testing potions on himself. For he was a rather prominent guardian alchemist with dreams of emulating the great Baldwin himself. Of course, this wasn't the precise way he wished to do so. One fateful potion and his beard was falling off in clumps. His body shifted and contorted as the bones reshaped themselves. He hacked up an odd chemical that would soon become a main component of his battle strategy. And energy seemed to flow into him allowing him to use a wide array of magical powers. To top it all off, when he died, and that happened quite a bit, he reverted to a seemingly inert sludge while his body reformed, essentially giving him two chances before he truly dies. His size is also quite malleable due to other aspects of his flesh and bone, also believed to be a result of the potion testing.

The group was amazed when they heard this tale, almost as amazed as Betel was when he heard about their clan. It sounded like it would be an even better home for him than his cave in the Arcane flight. So, after packing up his supplies he accompanied them back to the clan lair. It took a surprisingly short amount of time for him to be accepted, but he was soon making potions with the clan's alchemists and even accompanying them on missions. He is still a Guardian at heart, if not always in stature after all, and he believes its his duty to repay the clan for its generosity by protecting its members in what ways he can.
