But everyone knows the names of a few, among them Jahan, the Ancient Queen, whose hoard is lined with pearls older than written history.
She knows things older than the sagest Snapper - some say she witnessed the passing of Ages, and even the rise of the Lightmother to whom she so deeply devotes herself. They say she was born from the rubble at the Weaver's feet.
No Pearlcatcher would dare to venture into her realm somewhere deep within the Hewn City, but for the bravest dragons of other breeds, she's a fount of reliable information.
But one should never overstay their welcome. Her brand of hospitality isn't pleasant for long, and though you may not carry a pearl, she might find some use for you anyways.
