Nox

"Watch this!" The nocturne was beaming with excitement, practically bouncing in place. "I'm going to reverse time!" She pointed at a small sapling nearby. "I'm gonna make it a seed again. Just wait!"

She closed her eyes and stilled her claws, then began to chant while moving her talons counterclockwise.

"Per ignis et flammae, mutare cursum temporis!"

She opened her eyes- and froze when she saw her much smaller talons. "Oh, pillar shards..."

"Will you be alright?"

The nocturne shook off her annoyance, and beamed once more. "Of course! I'm sure it'll wear off in a bit, it wasn't supposed to be a permanent spell anyways. Besides, this is kinda cool- I'm pretty much a hatchling again!"

The nocturne took small footsteps, slowly wandering the halls of the clan. She paused at the doorway of the workshop, glancing inside, then shook her head and moved onwards.

"You ok?"

Startled, she jumped and looked around frantically, only to relax when she saw the Tundra. "Fubsy, you scared me!" She laughed. "And... What do you mean? Of course I'm fine." She moved as if to go past the tundra, but Fubsy blocked her way.

"Airy told me about your spell going wrong," he said gently. "It's been 3 days, and you thought it would have worn off by now. Of course you're not ok. You're disappointed in yourself and your magic, and you never thought something like this could ever happen. Just know, if you need to talk, I'm here."

She smiled up at him. "Thanks, Fubsy. But really, I'm fine." She smiled and ducked under the tundra's wing, continuing through the lair.

"I'm off to go see Felix- he said he had something for me! See you later!" She waved her talons in farewell. Fubsy couldn't help but smile as he saw her skipping off.

"Hey! Hey! Look!" The nocturne waved over at Airy. The skydancer stopped sorting the herbs in her claws, and looked up at the nocturne.

"What do you want to show me this time?" Airy smiled.
headcanon time: Airy has a slight British accent, fite me

"Felix just gave me a scroll! Wanna see me use it?" She held out the scroll excitedly- Airy squinted, and could just barely make out the word 'Noxtide' written on it.

"Of course! You know I'm always happy to watch you work your magic. Now, let's see it!"

The nocturne grinned, then unrolled the scroll. "Let's see... 'Noxtide. Recite the spell written on this scroll to give yourself the Noxtide gene, which will paint your wings with vibrant patterns. Be warned: The scroll will fade after use, as its magic will have disappeared...' yada yada... Oh! Here's the spell!"

She cleared her throat and stretched her wings, then started to recite.

"Voco te, magicae. Mutatio de alas, mutatio ut piscis! Finis."

She sat back and looked at her wings as they started to shimmer, dark lines etching themselves over the membranes. She grinned up at Airy, "Isn't this so cool?"
