The dry crystallization of sea salt on chapped lips as I stare into your endless expanse, forever breathless at your tranquility.

The motions of the black curtain of waves, hiding below them life to vast and expansive there will never be words to explain its grandeur.



Have you no fear, fighting against every shore, never making exceptions, tearing and clawing at the Earth, it being your caretaker as well as your greatest enemy?

What causes your movements, so fluid and jarring, synchronized to nothing more than your own tempo and course?

Thousands have fallen into your open arms and choked on your overwhelming love, is it your intention to bury the many corpses in your arms, or was such something even you had no control over?

How come one can never fully grasp your lullabies in their complexity and stunning word work, even if you spend decades breathing out a single sentence?



You connect worlds together, cities and countries and holding the whole world in your hands with the most delicate of care, smiling down on it all with a parent’s love.

The starlight dazzles in your eyes, telling stories of eternities and encompassing lifetimes of the endless beyond in a single pupil.

An expansive lineup of curious beasts you raise from fry to corpse of all shapes and sizes, each with perfect forms and voices, creating the symphony which they call home, what they all call you, for they are all part of you.

The shaking and violent power you hold over humanity and all life, never afraid to let it all go if the toxicity of the planet becomes too far of a burden for even you to bear.



Farewell, guider of mariners across this home, keep their sails taut and strong.

Stay safe, protector of life, mournful holder of the outcasts, comforter of the lost.
