Phoenix stared at the dragon who stood in front of him, the fire dancing into the sky. The fire calmed down, instead sparking. Hesitantly, she reached out a paw, talons outstretched. He placed his paw atop hers slowly.
He regretted it instantly. It was all a show. His instincts weren’t alert, they had calmed down, the adrenaline that was coursing through his veins had bubbled down. He felt ice reach out from the ground and grab at his pads.
Phoenix lurched back, batting them away with his flames. They wouldn’t do much to his opponent. Or him. He slammed down his paws on the ground, sending a wall of flames as a distraction before flying away into the darkness of the night.
The small cloak he wore flapped aggressively as he tried to get away. He yelped as a ball of light energy flew past him. It missed him, thankfully but it still scared him. Yes, he was a warrior, but things like that were still terrifying.
He swooped lower, breaking into the tree cover. He slipped behind some thick and heavy undergrowth as he was a large dragon. He heard the flaps of his pursuer as she flew past. Phoenix wanted to get up and run, but knew that movement could be the worst thing to do right now. So, he waited.
