Biography
Mid level court because of lineage, but humble, wicked smart and clever. likes to crack jokes and hunt like her dad, never knew her mother. Has a stubborn streak.
The fact that she had not mated at her age was starting to grate on her, so she decided to visit Windswept to get it out of the way. She didn’t bank on actually liking her children. Of course the rule of Windswept was that all children from mating there would be sold or exaulted, no exceptions.
But Ginger was going to make an exception. Using her status and her grandmothers influence in the council, Ginger was allowed to keep Olive. But only on the condition that she also take in the father and his lineage. She barely knew Athux, but she knew his mother, Natalia. She had made appeals to Ginger to let her take the responsibility, meaning she would take Olive and her son. This would free Ginger and let her continue her single lifestyle. She refused.
The whole thing was settled in the High Council, and it created quite the stir. Windswept was supposed to be this public secret, never to be actually addressed. But now by bringing out two members of this secret so openly back into the clan, it created a need for the conversation about the fodder facade.
Evangaline tried to keep it as civil as possible, and made clear that no one had be physically forced into Windswept, it was merely a volunteer situation with monetary rewards that would benefit the clan as a whole. She didnt mention that she had the resident gossip as the head of it, so that potential blackmail could be used if need be, but it was quietly understood by everyone in the room. They knew Alanii, and knew what dirt she had in all of them. So it was best to let Evangaline take the wheel with this ruling.
She decided that if the situation arises, the customer of Windswept was allowed to keep children out of their transactions only if they also took on the responsibility of the mother/ father and their kin. Only the customer could make this decision, not the other party. They had made their choice when they joined Windswept. All of this also depended on the customers status and lineage in the clan. If it seemed that the the dragon could not physically or financially take of the child, they would be denied. This of course was all up to Evangalines final say.
She also noted that any children she deemed worthy out of Windswept would be kept at her discretion, and under her care alone.
So Ginger was allowed to keep Olive. At with that she also kept Athux. They stay together peacefully, with the mutual respect of two parents just doing what they can for their children.
