Sangria grew up among a group of criminals. Taught how to lie, steal and deceive from a young age, the Imperial was highly paid for her services. When she was hired to seduce and influence the young prince Daegan, the two developed feelings for one another. She fled with him when his land was attacked.

When Sangria’s employer came after her she was forced to reveal the true reason she had arrived at the kingdom. Although Daegan was furious, he knew little of the outside world himself and so remained with Sangria. He eventually came to trust her and they started a clan in the Sunbeam Ruins.

The rulers take their counsel from Vaali, advisor to the duo and Daegan's right-hand man. Over the years, the trio's relationship has grown far beyond that of simply rulers and advisor. It is kept behind closed doors, though, for fear of backlash.

Sangria is the one who makes sure trade and alliances keep running smoothly. She enjoys the rich life that being a leader grants her, but often makes use of underworld contacts from her past. Her mate turns a blind eye, recognising that these actions help the clan.

She is sympathetic towards those without parents or homes, and has something of a reputation for, in Daegan’s words, “taking in strays.” Sangria is perhaps not as trustworthy as her mate believes her to be - often decreasing the severity of the punishments of dragons who have done wrong in exchange for favours. She knows that gratitude and loyalty are powerful things.
