Vail
Haunting Siren Maiden
______________________________________________________________________

she/he/they
The one that got away.

As the daughter of two powerful beings Vail and her siblings are forces that nature never intended to exist. She is a wild combination of her mother's striking beauty and her father's immense strength. She possesses a will to escape her home just as her father had, but without his patience or sense of duty to hold her back.

Cassius was sympathetic of her children's instinctual longing to follow the call of the ocean, but Vodou protected his children jealously, the only way that he knew how. Vail and her brother were kept within the confines of their home. However, the older they became, the more difficult it was to control them. Vo could no longer prevent them from going out and exploring the rest of his territory once they were fully grown. Their father gently warned them of dangers outside of their home while their mother sang them beautiful lullabies about the wonders of the world beyond.

Vail would beg her mother to teach her how to sing a Siren's song. Her mother could bring stories to life, enchanted with color and warmth from somewhere beyond this place.  To her great irritation, her brother found his Voice first. It happened so naturally. It was as if he hadn't been trying as hard as she had to learn Mother's secrets.

Where she failed to sing as beautifully as her Mother and Brother, she excelled in physical strength much like her father. Her deceptively lithe form carried the power of an unbound Sphinx, and her rage made her unpredictable and savage when her temper was lost. She craved direction, purpose, and answers that her parents could not give to her. The icy confines of her Father's lair could not hold her forever.

When Vail and Vo would argue, it would shake the very mountaintop they fought upon. Their roars were like thunder among the clouds and black blood smattered the freshly fallen snow. Vail had no interest in remaining here watching over a tomb of an ancient, long dead warrior. She roared that she would not stay in this prison. And so, with a cold and bitter heart, Vodou told her to go.

Vail flew down from the mountain top towards the sea, finally free, and for the first time in her life very, very alone.
