From a young age, Ithrith showed potential. Amazingly, not long after hatching she had already begun to curiously bend light and do other such experiments with elemental magic that were unlike the usual child's play - a focused and studious manner was already apparent. As well as a mildly cold and snarky one. It also wasn't a surprise that now as an adult, the only times her plans don't come out right, as she said, is when someone else decided to meddle.
Most of these plans are part science, part light magic and part late night cursing because since-when -did-the-calculation-have-a-mistake -in-it (which also involves scribbling ferociously in an illegible font on parchment under a flickering lamp).
Many will assume at this point that such a dragon with a ravenous mind for academia and an even more avid objection of affection (furthermore assumed from a dragon's personal experience - most attempts at socialisation seemingly only bear this: she'll glower darkly, glaring, although with eyes not quite so made for it twinkling with light) would have altogether abandoned the need for friends.
This is where a fellow drake, describing Ithrith to you (in a slightly hushed tone just in case), would be absolutely wrong.
The reason that her projects and scrolls of diagrams are being hurled aside (Or sribbled out. Or occasionally decorated in crayon) is due to meddling attempts of her students. The students of The School Of Magic And Whatnot (actually it was 'science' - but no-dragon said that) often knew that aside from a stern talking to that you probably deserved for playing with a spectrometer, their teacher was a kind soul; with a strange aggression relating to education whenever she caught a distracted hatchling dozing off.
The school opened only recently but it is expected that enrollment will increase tenfold each year. Students from all regions can't wait to fly over and begin class with Ithrith. Not because of the education she gave exactly - although she herself was exceptionally smart, it was obvious to most that teaching was a new and wholly different talent to her - no, it was because she had an overflowing love and care for her students.
Behind every concerned frown was enduring thoughtfulness. A bright star warmed the hearts of those she allowed to feel it.
It may have seemed to others that her students were ruining her plans (which was probably due to her usual sarcastic complaints). In fact, Ithrith was only taking up new plans. As usual, her focus wavered on her original project when she concentrated on a new one. Unusually, this one was challenging. The school started as a plan to give love a try - it looks like she'll be in this one for a long time.
