Sophoric Second Mate | Informant ||♬ 
▌ ✔ Be a dumb idiot with a heart of gold that can show kindness to even the person sent to kill you. Be a himbo.
Originally the trusted second mate to another crew that has long since past, but scored enough by the after mentioned target, Sophoric was tasked with keeping tabs on or sabotaging the chaotic pirate captain known as "Hautboi". And if given the signal, to finally end his life for good. At first, he didn't question the order. Didn't find anything odd about it, just knew it's what his crew had tasked him with- and that's what he was to follow through with. It's not until he spends a mistakably large amount of time with the other that Sophoric discovers that perhaps he's not...meant for the ship that had taken him in as a small child. He's always watched people, always studied them. Noticed the finer details of their being that made them well, human. It's his "skill" as people would say, he never saw the advantage of it, but others certainly did. To the point of abusing it and weaponizing a younger Sophoric. Their hopes had always been for him to be kinder, to use his skill, but with him being unable to see it's use always fell short. Hits either seeing through his false persona or not wanting to stick around long for his sharp attitude to give him much of a chance to end their lives. Not with Hautboi, though. the witless captain kept going and going. Raving on and on about this "Haunted Ship Ghost" that everyone was supposedly on the hunt for, his maps a treasure trove of their own. Every step of the way Sophoric followed with intrigue, giving excuse after excuse back to his head about why they couldn't kill him just yet. He wanted to understand just what a halfwit like himself could want with a (most likely) mythical being that just spend it's days making maps and following fish. He was perplexed. But the kindness he displaced throughout his travels, intentional or otherwise, stayed consistent. Sophoric's loyalty growing with the pile of good deeds and interest. Enough that he let himself succumb to the side effects to Hautboi's curse. The first, and officially severing his ties with the captain that had originally sent him. Sophoric's just glad that they finally found the "Haunted Ship", now his captain has at least some kind of form of impulse control. |
