Biography

Sigalit Evershine, granddaughter of Melusine the Dawnlight Queen and Maelstrom the Vigilante King, daughter of Sigal the Morning Glory. Named by her father, who thought it fitting that his and Sigal's firstborn - and possibly only - daughter be named after her mother. While she has a long way to go until she becomes the leader of the Morning Rose Tribe, Sigalit constantly feels as if she must prove her worth as a member of the clan as well as the future queen. As such, she tries very hard to make the dragons of the tribe happy and keep the lair in good shape. She was born into a nervous but loving family, her parents, as previously stated, being Sigal, a softspoken Tundra and heir to the tribe, and Megaleio, a majestic yet intimidating Imperial who was arranged to be Sigal's partner. Megaleio loves his daughter dearly, and Sigalit is one of the few dragons who never shows any signs of being scared by him. From spending as much time possible together flying or foraging or playing or learning how to fight, reading old texts or chasing fireflies or simply watching the sky, they are considered an inseparable family, and Sigalit is, simply put, the apple of Megaleio's eye, daddy's little princess, if you will, and a prim and proper princess is exactly what she aspires to be.

Selected Virtue: Altruism
Hindering Vice: Meddling
  • Has the most elegant gait.
Birthplace:

Sigalit was born a Tundra, but due to a combination of looking up to her father so, feeling her breed's dreadful memory would impair her ability to lead, as well as her wish to be a direct child of light, she deeply wished to have been born an Imperial, instead. As such, upon hearing the tale of how the scientist Baldwin had converted himself into a Bogsneak, she scoured far and wide for something to transform her from a lowly, soft-furred creature to a marvelously sculpted masterpiece. Sadly, such scrolls were dismissed as practically a myth or urban legend, and finding one would be neigh impossible, if possible at all.
As such, Sigalit hoarded as much treasure as she could in order to become the next best thing.
After much time of gathering the necessary funds and pleading with any alchemist, shopkeep, and artifact collector she could find, Sigalit was able to acquire a scroll infused with magic from a wandering (and rather shady) merchant.
Hesitant yet ecstatic, she sequestered herself in her part of the lair waited for an opportunity to be alone, to which she absorbed the energies within the parchment, the illustration and notes coming to life, and deeply focused on the magic energies within her. As the feelings seemed to seamlessly blend together, the energies began to calm down, and she came out of the trance feeling odd. Nevertheless, she felt it best for her to simply walk around, maybe find a pool or some glass to see if the scroll had worked.
As Sigalit strolled through the Mirrorlight Promenade, her thick coat began to shed rapidly, tufts of silky purple fur littering the streets. As she apologized to passers by, she was surprised yet thrilled to discover that she could remember seeing these dragons, who would normally be total strangers with a vaguely familiar scent. She gleefully greeted each dragon she passed, slightly worried if they were concerned about her coat that was still falling out by the clumps. While she did feel an awful chill to go with her queasiness and now absurdly itching and tingling head, she did feel significantly lighter and less sluggish. Clanmates gawked as the observed her, asking what was the matter. "Are you ill?" "Why are you going bald?" "what is that on your snout?", to which the young dragon smiled sweetly and trotted away.
Half a day had passed since she first used the scroll, and a turbulent day it was. She quietly marveled at all the change that had taken place in her reflection in a creek, the horns that once rested behind her ears having totally fallen off, whatever stumps they left behind disappearing. On top of that, a more crystalline horn had sprouted at the edge of her snout, which she considered much prettier, and her wings much better suited for flying now that they were devoid of fur and therefore much lighter. The things she did feel she would have to get used to were her aforementioned lack of fur (while some of her Tundra coat remained, most of the fur on her body was now simply down her spine and by her elbows and ankles), the stubs by her nostrils that were slowly growing into whiskers, how everything seemed so much louder now that her ears had grown and how her muzzle was itching like mad. All of those aspects were mere trifles, however. She was a new dragon, an actual child of the light, the closest thing to the splendorous Imperial one could get to, and though she disliked such vain thoughts, she couldn't help but find her new form beautiful.
And then came a thick black mucus that secreted from her chest scales.
It was absolutely disgusting and something to get used to for sure, but whatever solid object it touched, it opalized, and that's when two and two went together in her head...and she rushed to her quarters as soon as she could.
She had a much cherished Psywurm doll her father gave her as a child. It was now torn beyond repair, the only reason it hadn't been thrown away being due to sentimental value, but as Sigalit saw it, it was now being put to better use. She tried to roll it up in as much a spherical shape as she could before coating it with the substance, and it wouldn't be a perfect orb, but this way, she'd never have to abandon this gift from her beloved father. Even if she wasn't a Tundra, anymore, this valued piece of her past was an important part of her soul, a reminder of how she got where she was today, as part of the second most beautiful dragon species in the world (even if all dragons are beautiful). Each day she'd coat it in another layer of mucus, and each day it'd be closer to an actual pearl, and honestly, she'd prefer it to a "real" pearl, any day. As lovely and symmetrical as a real pearl was, it wasn't, at it's literal core, something to remind her of the dragons she loved.

Due to the rivalry between Imperials and Pearlcatchers (though Sigalit still deeply admired them), this development put a slight strain between her and her father (and was also a massive shock to her mother). Regardless, Sigalit's sweet and curious personality withstanding her mutation, even strengthened the latter now that she knew she would remember everything. To this day, in spite of everything, she still remains "daddy's little princess".

As a dragon, Sigalit is, as previously stated, a very warmhearted character, and has grown more and more social since becoming a Pearlcatcher, wanting to learn everything there is to know about her clanmates and even trying to get other dragons to become friends with each other. However, she worries far too much what other dragons think of her, always concerned that she's the subject of gossip somewhere, and therefore prefers to say as little about herself as possible. She also in turn tries to overdo things far too much, and expects nothing less than perfection from herself. "If I am to lead this tribe in the future, I might as well be the best at everything I do!"
Due to previous attempts to turn herself into an Imperial, Sigalit has also picked up a slight hobby for alchemy, even if her attempts are less than desirable. She can never really properly make anything other than goop and possibly edible mush, but she enjoys the process nevertheless. Alongside a leader, Sigalit would like to be a sage or even a priestess, but she figures that it's for the best she focuses on her current issues and save side aspirations for later.
The remains of Tundra within her drive her to be very close with her family, even missing and remembering her cousins, the children of Raban, very deeply, and being extremely eager to read their letters home. She also still longs for colder weather in spite of her coat being mostly gone, even if she appreciates the gentle warmth of the Sunbeam Ruins more than she did while she was still covered in fur. Regardless, she never regrets her decision to become a Pearlcatcher, and frankly, little of her heart has changed other than a boost in confidence and urges to socialize (the only recent developments of hers that she's had since her metamorphosis are the aforementioned cases in which she frets over how others regard her, and the other being that she's been eavesdropping on other members and internally matchmaking them accordingly), and though still a bit scared, this amicable dragon is eager to help do her part for the Morning Rose Tribe when the time comes.
In an act of diplomacy towards the Ice flight and the Beastclans, a Longneck sage by the name of Talvi has been entrusted with the role of regent as well as the tribe's royal family's personal confidant. In particular, he has been chosen as the right hand man of Melusine, herself. However, he frequently acts as Princess Sigalit's tutor, as well, and the two are close friends, to the point where the Pearlcatcher has become quite fluent in Longneck-speak.
