"I am not a feeble construct made of mud, and thus cannot ever dream of returning to dust."

Aushauen was considered beautiful since her birth. Her scales twinkled like stars, her wings resembled jewels, and there was a delicate grace to her every move. The envy of all the community, a maiden sought after in marriage for many years. She was noble and proper, and her melodic tone seemed to cause nature itself to stand still. But when a bloody war erupted, catching her homeland in between, she stood up in place of her aging parents to fight in their stead.

She was then called the radiant moon, softly shining and illuminating the dead of night, serving as a guide and pathway to those who were lost. She stood stalwart and fearless in the face of those who threatened what she held dear. With an enormous, crescent-shaped scimitar, the elegant maiden struck down her enemies, clouds that threatened to block out her glow. She returned victorious and triumphant, celebrated with an enormous parade.

But somehow, it seemed like thorns of darkness had ensnared her once-pure heart during the lengthy conflict. And one unassuming day, she vanished without a trace as the full moon grazed the starry sky. Anguished dragons searched until dawn, but she was nowhere to be found. And it was at that daybreak that Aushauen had a destructive epiphany. To this day, only she knows what happened at that eventful sunrise. Once visible beauty now hides behind a shimmering, ethereal veil, giving her the appearance of a living ghost. And when she takes flight, an eldritch melody fills the air, warning all to stay away from the deathly wraith.

She discarded the immaculate blade that she had once cherished. Now, she is never seen with any sort of physical weapon. Instead, she wields an assortment of dark arts, capable of resurrecting the dead in order to raise an army of ghastly abominations, or twisting a living being into a wretched creation that would be pitied by all of creation. Her power comes not from the Shade, which she actually considers to be a profaned version of the true void.

Formerly a celebrated hero, she became the newest subject of horror stories and the talk of hunters. Those who have actually encountered her did not live to tell of it. But after giving rise to countless disasters and devils, Aushauen simply disappeared without a trace, vanishing into history and myth, now being no more than an urban legend. But as of late, it is rumored that she has made a return, but a subdued one, unwilling to fight and causing no harm. So in this deepest hour, what is it that goes through her mind?
