Dart had always considered herself royalty. She always thought she’d lead the clan one day. Her family was very wealthy, and Dart was a very beautiful dragon. She was even the same breed as Lord Cliffhanger! In fact, she had guaranteed her choice in mates because half the tribe was in love with her. Her parents couldn’t be prouder.
She got all her wealth from her parents and other dragons and didn’t even have to lift a claw to work for it!
That all changed when her parents decided she was to be married. “You can’t be serious!” She cried out in exasperation. “Him of all dragons? He’s the only dragon in the tribe who’s a total creep!” She shuddered just thinking about him. Her mother had chosen Xannan, of all dragons.
Sugarblossom patted Dart’s head soothingly. “He’s a wildclaw, a very rare breed, and he’s very wealthy! Besides, Lord Cliffhanger and Lady Berry have decided that they would like your offspring to be trained for war, and they want offspring quickly.”

That night, Dart sat in her bed and cried. She could run away to avoid the marriage, but she didn’t know one thing about surviving in the wild. She could tell her parent she she loved someone else, but she didn’t love any dragon except herself. The only thing she could do was wait- wait for her last days of freedom. 		Snail Husk HFNgSxI.gif
