Biography

This tiny, fae hen is the Matriarch of her clan, the first Founder. She seems unaware of just how tiny she is, as she will not hesitate to throw herself bodily at her enemies or anyone else who simply has the misfortune of wandering into her territory. Andromeda is highly ambitious, has an inflated sense of her own importance the size of a galaxy, and intends to take over the entirety of Sornieth.

...If she can ever stop adopting every hatchling who crosses her path.

Once, the Arcanist sneezed while in the midst of attempting to create a chewy, spicy treat for his children. He accidentally knocked over the cauldron he was working with and spilled it on a pile of leaves with runes of not-so-terrible power scribbled onto them which had been left on the floor, causing an explosion.

When the dust settled, the Arcanist observed that he had accidentally brought into existence a tiny fae whose body had formed out of the sap based treat, some of the dirt off the floor, and a small burst of magic which had escaped him when he sneezed.

The little dragon stared wide-eyed at her surroundings, her serpentine neck working overtime to allow her to peer every which way, crests pulled tight against her body.

The Arcanist spoke to the tiny creature before him.

Hello, little one! Please, do not be afraid. You are in no danger, I promise. I am the Arcanist, and this is my domain.

He carefully picked her up off the floor, and she immediately curled into a trembling ball. After a moment of consideration, he decided to take her outside so she wouldn't feel trapped.

As the deity understood it, it could be quite the overwhelming experience to meet one of his kind. The new exalts frequently fainting upon meeting him did seem to support that idea. Being suddenly sneezed into existence was probably quite disorienting as well.

The Arcanist smiled as the cool, night air breezed across his skin and once more the sky stretched out above him, the sight of it unimpeded by stone or anything else. After several seconds of stillness and the only sound that of the wind around them, the tiny fae held in his spidery hands uncurled, looked up, and froze.

Above her glittered the vast expanse of the night sky, an infinitely high ceiling full of so many points of light, she couldn't possibly count them all. A great cluster of them took up a whole section of the sky, arcing from one side of the horizon to the other. The sight stole her breath away, and she simply stared up at it, entranced.

Delighted to see that the little fae had inherited his love of the cosmos, the Arcanist taught her the names of the stars and the constellations until she let out a long, low, gurgling whine and, crests fully fanned out, stared down at her belly.

Oh, right, his children needed to eat. And to sleep and nest and everything else children do.

The Arcanist took the little fae back inside and instructed two nearby exalts to bring food for his new child. He then brought her before a giant map with many small areas marked off and marked off one more.

All of my children have a territory they call home within my domain. This space will be yours from now on, to make into a den of your very own. And a nest, should you choose to make a clan for yourself.

The two exalts returned with the requested food and, looking between the tiny fae and the size of the packs, kindly offered to help her carry it to her new territory.

The smaller dragon thanked them, and took up the pack of bugs, the only one small enough for her to carry. She turned to her creator and thanked him for showing her the night sky and teaching her the names of the stars and constellations and for letting her make her home in his realm.

The Arcanist smiled fondly at the tiny dragon and said she was very welcome and sent her on her way, telling her to go forth and prosper.

And so she did. But after she had reached the place where she was to make her new home, and the exalts who had helped her had left, the little fae realized she would need a name, for who was she without one? Looking up into the still dark sky, she found the star that was not a star, and took its name for her own.
