Cataracta is the Keeper, the one who ensures the Vault stays closed and that any with ill intentions never learn of its secrets. He has been present since before the Vault was created, the only one with a living memory of what Vannois was like before the great decline.
He is a silent person, shrouded in mystery and more incorporeal than solid most days. He rarely busies himself with the worries of day-to-day issues and instead remains in the library, endlessly searching for knowledge and curating the history of their people and clan. He seems unperturbed by the gradual decline of Vannois or he simply doesn't care. His only duty is to the Vault and the Vault alone.
