The Past
Known in another realm as a deity of prosperity, Inari was, for lack of another word, bored. They craved excitement, desiring a moment to shirk their responsibilities as a deity and just have fun. It was not that they did not care about the humans or their own live… They just wanted to experience something new in a new, unknown realm, living life not as a deity, but as one of the people. Therefore, they separated a part of themselves, not unlike how an ofuda was a part of them, and sent that part away to adventure and live on in their stead. Through this part of them, they would be able to both have fun and maintain their responsibilities. This Inari, like the main “soul”, seemed to gravitate towards dragons. So, it was no surprise when Inari arrived in the Wispwillow Grove, he was a pure white dragon with a red belly. Of course, Inari-okami (the main “soul”) was not cruel, and sent four messengers with him, all four assuming an appearance of both dragon and fox. Lost and excited, Inari dragged his ensemble of kitsune through the darkened lands, seemingly oblivious to the shadows that hid in their stead. They stumbled upon the fledgling Gravy clan, starving and nervous about an unknown future. Their despair gave Inari an opportunity to do what he did best: bringing prosperity to those around him. Despite McGee’s objections, Inari and his kitsune worked hard to ensure the clan would never worry about food or funds. Asriel, able to see into Inari’s past, thanked the deity, offering him a spot on the clan’s slowly forming counsel. |
The Present Uka could be considered the same as Inari, even though they are two separate dragons (kitsune?). |
