 Café au lait is a coffee beverage that originated in France. It is commonly served in the United States with brewed coffee and steamed milk poured it. In Europe however, this drink is made with a shot of espresso rather than brewed coffee in a 1:1 ratio. This drink differs from white coffee by adding hot milk rather than cold milk or other whitening substitutes. It is also typically served in a bowl in Europe whereas in the United States it's served in a cup. The bowls have a wider rim and a thinner base

Beignet
Beignet's are a type of fritter, or a deep-fried pastry, usually made of yeast dough. Square-shaped, they are covered in powdered sugar and served with coffee! Much like the café au lait, this also originated in France. Beignets are most commonly found in Louisianna, a state full of French culture. They are a specialty at the Cafe Du Monde. While most commonly served with only powdered sugar, they sometimes are served with banana or chocolate drizzle.
