Guardian of the Sea

Marina resides in the some of the deepest waters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Most of the time she only arises when the Sea itself is in danger. Boasting significant magical prowess, those who cross Marina tend to never be seen again. However, for those with good intentions, Marina is benevolent. Because of her sheer power, it is believed Marina is either a minor deity or spirit; perhaps left in charge when the Tidelord mysteriously vanished?

The main threat to the Sea is poachers, whom Marina has taken a great disliking to. Of course, the dragon easily dispatches them, making sure none return to try again. Marina employs the aid of the various creatures to aid in the protection and preservation of the Sea, from shale threshers to the maren beastclans alike, many of which have become her close companions. Additionally, on rare occasions, Marina has befriended several dragons who aim to preserve the beauty and bounty of the Seas much like herself. She's found it useful, for having contacts on the mainland has provided her with much information on potential poachers.

Unlike other dragons, Marina only communicates telepathically with whomever she deigns fit. Additionally, while she retains a draconic-form, Marina's body has adapted to full-time life in the sea. As such, Marina cannot remain on land for long, thus sticking to the deeper parts of the water.

Marina's magic focuses on the manipulation of water, and as such being near or in a source is much easier than producing it out of thin air. She preserves most of her strength for dire situations, though nothing serious has happened in decades. Even still, Marina is careful to preserve her energy for when she needs to call on it.

Depending on the dragon, Marina can either bring them serious harm or eternal happiness.

With the disappearance of the Tidelord, many have taken to worshiping Marina in their missing deity's stead. As such, she has become the clan's water ambassador, accompanied by one of the Tidelord's most dedicated priestesses, Abyssopelagia.

Biology:

Marina has both lungs and gills, which she uses depends on the environment she is in. Spending most of the time in water, Marina mainly uses her gills.

Along her sinuous length and behind her ears are several pairs of fins, most of which help her maneuver. Between her paws are webbing, which helps push her up or down. Instead of hair, Marina's tail ends in a pair of flukes which help her swim. Her wings, which are thinner than the average dragon's, also help with water-based maneuvers; while they can still be used for flight, Marina cannot fly long distances.
