Rajni is not the oldest of the guardians by any stretch, but her time in the forest has been long nevertheless. So long, in fact, that she was there to watch as the trade path leading into the mountains was first laid, then lost, then reclaimed, then lost and reclaimed again. She was there at every pass, defending the woods from the encroaching foresters and merchants who dared even to flash a blade in its direction. So too was she there as a number of wanderers and fools tried to enter the woods across the centuries, searching for fame and glory, and many she gave to the mercies of the forest.

Many would describe Rajni as cold and unfeeling, loyal only to her duties to the forest. This is vastly untrue, however, especially as more time is spent in the presence of her companion, Nuru. His desire to remember his past and curiosity has slowly awakened questions of her own, pushing through the resignation and instinctual need to protect the forest at all costs to instead wonder why. Her protectiveness runs deep, as do her affections toward Nuru, who she considers something of a younger brother.
