P E R S O N A L I T Y

Yeri is a Jewel Crafter. She is a loving, doting dragon that is very expressive and mildly annoying. She is bubbly and will talk your ear off if you let her. Yeri is very dedicated to her job, investing every bit of spare time that she has in her work. She loves cats and hates people who she deems boring.

B I O G R A P H Y

Early Days:

Yeri was hatched by the sea and at first, she was drawn to it. She started walking towards the great vastness but jumped back in pain from a sea urchin that had washed up onshore. "What a stupid hatchling! Can't even tell that something sharp and pokey might not be good to step on!" Yeri looked back at the voice and saw a dragon much like herself only larger and scarier. Though she didn't understand everything he said, she instantly wanted to hide from him, to run from him, but she was frozen in place, by fear or pain she didn't care or know which. The larger Coatl was staring at her, pure hatred in his eyes... or was that pain? There were no other dragons around and before she could think about anything, he grabbed her and took her back, to what she could only assume was his den.

The den was filled with many shiny gems, feathers, and random objects that were clearly made with an artist's touch. Yeri was captivated instantly. She forgot her pain and fear for a moment and wiggled out of the Coatl's grasp. Her foot instantly opposed her decision, and she fell with a yelp of pain. "Two times... That's two-" the large Coatl held up two claws "times that you've done something dumb and you aren't even two days old!" She froze on the spot and watched as he drew closer to her and wrapped her foot while muttering to himself. He leaned in close to her and said "No matter who you think you are, what you think you can do... You will never be enough..." Yeri looked into his eyes and saw that all his anger was melting to sadness, but that didn't make the words he said hurt any less. He looked away and left her alone for a long time only to return with a trout. "Eat" was all he said.

Teen Years:

As she grew Yeri was forced to do exactly as the other Coatl said, he made her call him "Sir" and he would refer to her as anything from "Dumb" to "Stupid" to "You there." He would make her clean the entire lair by herself while he was out hunting or just enjoying himself. One time he brought back some fish for them to eat. "How do you catch all these fish, Sir?" Yeri asked him in a meek voice. "Don't talk with your mouth full, Idiot" Was his response. "Sir? My mouth isn't full I haven't taken a bite yet." He looked up at her for a short moment then went back to eating. "You've got a tongue in there don't ya?" Yeri went to open her mouth to respond but thought better of it, she went the rest of the day without opening her mouth for anything, other than to eat and drink.

The next day she packed up a small collection of gems, feathers, and other assorted things she thought were pretty. Yeri heard the scrape of claws walking toward her, and hid, with her small stash of loot, behind a loose spot in the wall that she had come across in her daily cleanings. "Where did you go you imprudent, bah!" Yeri was frozen to the spot and could only hear the sound of her own breathing and heartbeat. As she slowly calmed down she heard a new sound, one she hadn't heard from another dragon, sobbing. She heard him calm down and say "First I lose her, then the nest and now..." Yeri heard him get up, heard him grab something and as he was walking away she heard one last thing out of his mouth "and I only wanted to protect her..." Yeri waited until she was sure he was gone, and then she left. Just like that, everything she had known, all the old struggles... gone, but new struggles were just beginning.

Yeri's first feelings when she left were hope and freedom, quickly followed by fear and uncertainty. She hadn't left the den... ever, and she didn't know how to help herself. She started off flying but because she hasn't flown much she had to walk for a while, before collapsing under a tree. She didn't know where she was but she didn't care, so long as she was away from that place. She fell asleep and when she woke up it was dark, but she was hungry and full of energy.

She started wandering around trying to find some kind of water to look for fish in. She came across a large lake. She knew this was the kind of place fish came from but she had no idea what to do to catch one. She waited by the edge of the water and when she saw a flash of a fish she dove at it and came up with nothing. Yeri did this several times, all with the same results. Eventually, she looked back at her things and saw someone digging through her stuff, "Hey, that's mine!" Yeri flared her wings to seem threatening. The other dragon was a strange one to her, he seemed very... spiky. "Says the Coatl who can't catch a fish" he scoffed, "you seem skinny though so I'll help you if you help me. Whadda ya say?" Yeri looked him up and down and decided it was her best bet to trust him, and she nodded "What do you need?"

The other dragon tilted his head, looked at Yeri, and said "You're a strange Coatl you know that? Anyway, I'll show you how to catch a fish, and you make me somethin' with all those fancy, shiny things you got there." Yeri thought about it for a moment then her stomach decided for her "Why not? So how do I fish?"

After several lessons with the other dragon, she finally caught a carp. The dragon looked at her with the pride of a teacher. "Now it's your turn, make something pretty lookin' for me" Yeri knew she had to repay the favor so she set to work, she asked him to fetch some twigs for her. She places one of the gems she had in the middle and started warping twigs around it and other twigs in a pattern. she had some twine as well and wound that to a spot on the bottom of the circle she had made and tied the feathers to the twine. She held up the finished product for the other dragon to see. "It's pretty and all but what is it?" Yeri didn't know herself and told him that she had seen it somewhere and knew it would look pretty, but that's about it. The two of them parted ways after their trade and Yeri continued wandering.

Adult:

As Yeri got older she honed her fishing and crafting skills. She started wandering towards a barren wasteland where everything seemed to be sick and dying. She had wandered by herself for a long time and hadn't seen another dragon for what felt like ages, then she ran into Ruo. During her travels through The Scarred Wasteland, she had been looking for more materials to fix up a basket that she had made. While she was looking for a suitable twig or rope-like material she noticed a Coatl dragon approaching her, and Yeri let her wings go up as an attempt to seem scary.

Ruo simply looked at her for a moment, "What are you doing here, near the border of the Wanderer's Enclave?" He didn't seem scared off by any means, nor did he seem hostile. Yeri let her wings drop and explained herself, "I was just looking for some twigs or something that I could use to fix this-" she held up her basket "and I think I can see something over there that might be useful, but I can't tell for sure from here. I didn't want to cause any trouble, I really was just looking for something to fix this, and-" Ruo cut her off "Calm down there, I believe you, I can help you look"

After finding a twig that Yeri found acceptable, Ruo watched her claws masterfully weave the twig into the basket, fixing the break almost perfectly. "You're pretty good at making things and fixing them" Yeri was blushing immensely as this was the first praise she had ever had directed towards her, "Thank you, um what was your name? I'm Yeri by the way." He looked at her and smiled kindly "I'm Ruo, pleased to make your acquaintance, Yeri, would you like to meet, Pagetos, the leader of the Wanderer's Enclave?" Yeri took the offer almost instantly, almost tripping over herself to thank him with a hug.

On the way to meet Pagetos, Ruo offered Yeri a piece of advice, "Get some of your craft materials ready, Pagetos likes clan members to have some skill or service to offer." Yeri looked into his eyes and saw that he may have been playing cool, but he was almost as excited and nervous as she was, "Thank you, for everything you've done so far, I really mean it," then Ruo lead her to see Pagetos.

Pagetos was in the middle of some kind of border talk with a guard when Ruo and Yeri stepped up. Pagetos quickly ended the conversation with "That will be all for now Skywall it seems Ruo brought a guest" and with that, he motioned to Yeri, and she stepped forward. "I heard you might be willing to let me stay here? I can craft baskets and other things as well, not just baskets. I've made things to look pretty, and things that help me fish, and things that I just made and they don't really do anything, and-" Pagetos had to cut her off before he was overwhelmed "One moment please, so you can make things.. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name?" Yeri was blushing again but this time with embarrassment, "That would be my fault I didn't say my name, which really isn't like me, but then again I haven't talked with many other dragons, and I did it again didn't I? I'm Yeri." Pagetos smiled with amusement "I can see your skills being useful, would you mind showing off your crafting ability by making something for me here?"

So Yeri set to work and made the same kind of craft she made for the nameless dragon she met countless years ago. She placed a blue-green gem in the middle, wound the sticks and twine, then tied some dark purple feathers to the twine. The dragon known as Skywall walked up to her and asked: "Where did you learn to make these things?" Yeri was a bit uncomfortable with sharing her past "I saw them once as a hatchling and wanted to make them because they looked pretty." Skywall looked at her and then at Pagetos, "Would you mind if I kept this one? It reminds me a lot of... something, I just can't place what" Yeri was looking at Pagetos waiting for his answer and thought that he looked slightly annoyed when he said, "Sure Skywall, you've more than earned some kind of reward and if this is something you'd want you can have it." Skywall looked Yeri in the eye and said one of the most sincere thank-yous that Yeri has ever heard.

"Welcome to Yeri's Glimmering Stones, how may I assist you?" The Coatl dragon at the front desk had a bright and shining smile on her face, almost forcing a smirk out of the old Nocturne that had waltzed into her tent. He nodded in response and began looking within all of the glass cases scattered around the room.

"Looking for anything specific?" Yeri slowly made her way to the old Nocturne's side.

"Not really... Mate's anniversary. Gotta find something..." He struggled to find the word until he spotted the sign above the entrance. "... Glimmering."

"Hmmm... Tell me about your mate." She sat back on her haunches and waited for the old, grumpy nocturne to tell her his life story.

"Well, erm... She's very beautiful, strong and brave. Very brave. I love her very much."

"Stay right here, mister." Yeri scurried to the back of the tent and opened a door to one of the glass display cases. She quickly removed two ring boxes from the case and closed it. She popped each of them open and splayed them out on the glass counter between them. Out of curiosity, the nocturne dragon peered over the ring boxes and gaped in awe at the beauty before him.

In one ring box was a bright, white metallic ring with a beautiful pearl right in the center, cut to perfection. In the other, a dark steel ring with a deep, endless blue gemstone right in the center.

"Your mate has passed, has she not?" Yeri asked the Nocturne dragon solemnly.

The nocturne gaped in awe once again. "How did you..."

Before he could continue, Yeri flicked her tail over to gesture to the rings. "My recommendation would be these two." She took the pearly ring in her claws, observing it closely, then handing it to him. "She may be gone to another realm, but you can still bring light into her world..." She picked up the lapis lazuli ring and placed it in his claws. "And you can still bring her color as well."

After paying for the rings, the nocturne left a tearful mess.

Yeri was working in her crafts shop one day when she heard something unusual. She took the basket she was working on and when to investigate. She rounded a corner and saw a chimera stalking towards her. Yeri let out a short scream, and the chimera lunged for her, and in that same instant, she slammed her basket over its snout. The chimera easily threw the basket off and seemed to realize that its prey was trapped and it was looking for a good opening to attack.

Summoned by her scream Ruo was in the shop and saw what was happening. Wasting no time he killed the chimera and checked Yeri for injuries. As she seemed unharmed Ruo brought her outside and was ushering her toward Pagetos' den as it would be the safest place. On the way, they saw other clan mates battling their way against various Beastclans.

As the pair entered the den they were confronted by an undying featherback beast. Ruo flew, slashed, bit, dodged, and clawed at a pace that Yeri could never hope to keep up with. With the featherback defeated and Ruo hardly harmed, Yeri was brought into the den. Ruo went to leave but before he went out he turned back and said: "Stay safe, and if you have to run there's a back entrance you can use." Yeri tried to look him in the eye but he avoided her gaze, "Can you promise you'll come back?" Ruo went to leave, then turned back, gave Yeri a hug, and he looked at her for a while, "You know I can't promise anything, now I have to go help the clan."

Yeri stayed hiding, listening to the roar of the battle and the frantic beat of her heart. Then a new noise came to her, the scrape of claws against the ground, a few wing beats, and a thud just in front of her hiding place. Then the beak of a crowned roc pecked apart Yeri's hiding place, narrowly missing her, and Yeri took off for the back entrance, even amidst all the fear she was slightly amazed that she escaped. Then she heard the crowned roc pushing it's way out of the back entrance after her. In pure terror she ran, blindly, anywhere the roc wasn't. She saw a shadow hovering above her and she looked up to see the roc flying over her, much faster than she could run or fly, but she kept running- zig-zagging- to get away.

Then a new shadow met the roc, and she turned to look and saw a blur of light blue crash into the roc, and when it moved to a new spot the roc had sustained several injuries. Before too long the crowned roc was defeated. The blur stopped being so blurry and flew down to meet Yeri. "Are you hurt?" they seemed genuinely concerned for her. Yeri was still a little stunned and took a moment to reply "I- I think so. I mean I think I'm ok, I don't think I was hurt." The newcomer looked as though he had something on his mind other than the battle, and the sounds of fighting were growing quieter.

"Did you see a golden feathered Coatl, and was he alright?" Yeri's panic was refreshed with fear for her mate. The newcomer seemed saddened for a moment, then said, "Yes he's alright, he's a great fighter. Ah... I don't know how to break this to you, but there was another brilliant fighter out there who hadn't been so lucky..." Yeri's fear started to grow again "Who.. what... what.. who...?" The newcomer started to pace back and forth while saying "I found Skywall's body, she didn't go down without a fight I'll have you know, she took several beasts with her.. I gave her a proper warriors burial and I'll show you where she is.." He broke off and looked at Yeri, she seemed about ready to fall if the breeze picked up, and then she started to sob for her lost friend. She fell against the newcomer while he wrapped her with his wing.

The newcomer had lead Yeri back to her destroyed clan, and Ruo ran up to greet them. "Cloud, you found Yeri! Are you ok?" He looked her over quickly and decided she was ok, "Now we only have to find Skywall, all the rest are... accounted for..." Yeri moved to Ruo and buried her face in the crook of his wing as Cloud broke the news.

After the Great Battle Yeri spent lots of time helping to rebuild the clan, crafting new items for anything anyone may have needed, from baskets to nets, to ropes. Without Yeri's help, the rebuild would have taken a fair bit longer. Ruo had been promoted to the Captain of the Guard so he was quite busy making sure the clan stayed safe from any future attacks.

Yeri spends most of her time crafting items that others need, and giving gifts of other things she's made. She also enjoys making jewelry and she has a shop that she sells her crafts from. She spends free time, mostly, with her friend Megas and sometimes with Cloud.
