Biography

ALEURISS

From the moment he was hatched, born from the sole surviving egg of an abandoned nest, Aleuriss had to fight. In his world, the weak did not survive. The purposeless were sent off, presumably to their demise in the name of their deity. The sickly and frail were abandoned in times of crisis. The small and the helpless became a beastclans' next meal. Only the strong, the clever, the useful were granted the gift of life.

And so he fought.

As a hatchling, Aleuriss learned to survive through thievery. With no parents to take care of him and being far too small to fight anything, he had to fend for himself the only way he could, from sneaking furs from Crim to following hunting parties and stealing bits of their kills. As he grew, he became bolder, stealing whatever he could from whoever he could; nothing was safe from the young and hungry dragon's claws. His multiple eyes were a gift, allowing him to better see other dragons which in turn made it easier to rob them blind.

When he was big enough, the guardian quickly turned to combat. It started small, with the weak monsters near the fields where he hatched. Now with a stable food source, Aleuriss was able to devote himself to growing stronger. He worked relentlessly, until he was able to take out the bigger, far more dangerous monsters in the cove with ease. His scavenging efforts dwindled with his newfound skills; thievery was useless to a dragon that could kill for whatever he needed.

As Aleuriss grew in age and strength, he travelled around Sornieth. He was always on the move, never staying in one place too long; his combat-hardened body and unique condition made him quite the sight in most clans. Wherever he went, hatchlings stared, dragons whispered, and he was chased away by various guards on more than one occasion.

During his travels, he came across a duo caught in a losing battle against an angry-looking thunderstomp in the Thunderhead Savanna. The dragons clearly hadn’t intended on entering combat and were losing terribly. Aleuriss stepped in almost without thinking, saving them from the furious creature after a hard-fought battle.

The two dragons fell all over themselves in their gratitude, introducing themselves as Constance and Aira. An adventurer's pair like this was no surprise to the guardian; they littered the lands of sornieth with their inane desires to explore and "discover", whatever that meant. No, what surprised their rescuer was the obvious complete and utter lack of even the most basic survival skills needed for such an expedition, let alone one in an area as dangerous as the shifting expanse.

What surpised Aleuriss even more, however, was not how bumbling or inept the dragons were. It was not that they insisted on dragging him back to their clan for a "proper thanks". It wasn't even the sincere words of gratitude from Aesir, the clan's leader that surprised him.

No, what surprised and shocked the young guardian was an imperial whose cyan-coloured wings perfectly matched the sets of cyan eyes interposed down his body.

For the first time in his life, Aleuriss had met someone just like him.
