Kamar creates very unusual pottery. First she makes a gorgeous pot, fires it in a hot kiln, paints it intricately with beautiful colours and then gently drops it on the ground, shattering it into numerous pieces. Then she gathers up the pieces, reforms the pot with them and fills in the cracks with gold, silver or platinum as the glue. She makes other pieces by setting the final product on fire, which leaves an iridescent and wholly unique pattern on the finished piece. She thinks of pottery as a metaphor for life, and we are the sculptors. She firmly believes that everything is mendable.
