Biography
Amberstone padded quietly along. The floorboards creaked softly beneath her weight, and the icicles hanging from her wings clinked together like wind chimes. She walked towards the door clutching the small key.
The key was ornate. Slim silver metal twirled around in intricate patterns, creating a beautiful-yet fragile- spiral down into the key itself. She found the key placed outside of her quarters, with a note. Although she could not read the note entirely, she had a gut feeling as to where it would lead.
The door had been rusted shut long, long before she took over this home. The cobble walls were cold and unforgiving, and had led the door to be exposed to the harsh winds that blew through the taiga.
She continued forward, clutching the key even tighter to her as a gust of frozen snow blew into her side. Huddling down, she began to walk faster. The door was in sight now. The handle had a peculiar lock mechanism; a see through glass spiral with a single hole at the base. The key clicked right into place with no hesitation. She trembled a little. This door had to have been closed for so long for good reason, right?
Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and pushed the door open. A heavy metallic screech sounded throughout the air, silencing even the oncoming blizzard. Opening her eyes slowly, a puzzled look spread across her face. The door opening was nothing more than a deep abyss. The darkness seemed to creep out of the opening, covering the trim in a void of color.
She backed away cautiously. But this is not what she had come for. Taking one last look around, she lunged into the opening.
