as ancient as they come, dantor came into existence at the dawning of the first age and grew swiftly into a young and cruel creature. enamored with the creations of the eleven, he snuck away frequently to observe the mortal dragons on their meaningless little planet. his forefathers could not understand dantor's interest in sornieth, as the planet had come to be called. by all accounts, dantor was a pride to his family and the perfect heir to the eternium crown -- perfect save for this one flaw, his borderline obsession with mortal affairs. concerned that he may stray from divine purpose, his father called for an audience with stellar mages and nebulous thinkers, deliberating how to turn the crown prince away from sornieth's corporeal reality and refocus him on ruling the flow of time and space. for hundreds of years they tried and failed to reign dantor in, distracting him with duties and meaningless petty tasks. the eternium king grew frustrated with their fruitless efforts; in his frustration, he lashed out at dantor when the prince came to him with yet another story of mortal dramatics, casting him to sornieth to live among the creations he so loved. stung by his father's reaction, dantor wandered sornieth but found that it had somehow lost its charm. he'd once loved to meddle with the dragons he crossed paths with, but tensions seemed so much stronger than they'd been in the past. quickly dantor resolved that he'd strayed too far. he sought an audience with his father. with some convincing, the king saw him, but his frustration had grown into malice and consumed him; it left a gaping black hole within him, devouring all that came near. dantor struck down his father, and the black hole collapsed in on itself, taking the king with it. bearing the crown of his father before him, dantor took up the mantle of eternium king and turned his back on sornieth for many years. |

ruling over time and space smothered what little rebellious nature dantor might have had. he became wholly interested in his duties and filling his father's shoes. it became exactly what dantor had dreaded in his youth: meaningless routine. a disturbance was what dantor needed, and a disturbance he got; the little planet he'd favored in his youth caused quite a stir across time and space. with some semblance of horror, dantor realized that sornieth was under the attack of a force outside his rule. dantor's advisors encouraged him to let the shade swallow the planet whole, but he argued that even something as miniscule and fleeting as a planet of draconic life deserved allies in the eternium court. dantor himself led the first visit; accompanied by his younger brother chat and their best advisor, dantor assessed the planet's damage. mortal affairs had not lost their charm to him as they once had; he was swayed by their persistence, even in times of war. dantor sired three children, but to his dismay none were anything like him. they were mortal, and had only the barest traces of their divine heritage. nonetheless, he loved them - love being such a strange and fleeting emotion for something nigh-eternal as he. their presence on sornieth convinced dantor that this planet was indeed worth protecting. having seen enough, dantor departed from sornieth, but left behind his brother who had fallen for a mortal dame; all the same to the king. anything to distract his brother from the prospect of ruling over space and time. mortal distractions could be, of course, the crucial threshold between royalty and exile. |

➼ dantor is the sixth generation in his family to take the title of king. he does not take kindly to threats towards his power, especially from within his own family. ➼ if dantor appears among mortal dragons, he tends to choose the form closest to his true nebulous form; in previous years it has been a gaoler, then a tundra, but most recently an obelisk. ➼ in his earliest years, dantor meddled often in the affairs of mortal dragons much to the dismay of the eleven deities of sornieth. he has since grown out of these little games and would prefer not to mention them. ➼ despite his proud bloodline, dantor has not yet sired an immortal son to take the crown. his brother remains his one and only successor, a fact which dantor pointedly ignores. |
