It was just business. Just business. This is what his gods asked him to do, no? Then why was he hesitating? Samedi tapped for claws impatiently against the stone of his lair, staring at the sick and injured body below him. This coatl was meant as a sacrificial lamb, an opening for his ceremony. He was dying anyway, he'd told the male's clan he would need to take him for further treatment.

But he looked so.. sad. And beautiful. By the plaguebringer, he was beautiful, and it struck uncomfortably deep in his heart. Shaking himself off, he raised his sharp talon, began to press it against the coatl's throat- and then a great bout of lightning struck, hitting a tree near his cave and crashing down- thankfully falling in the opposite direction of his cave.

Samedi stumbled back, falling onto his side, having laid barely a scratch on his sacrifice. "Was I wrong?" he murmured, pulling himself back up with difficulty, looking over the shakily breathing creature- Adrian, he believed they had said his name was. "Perhaps I.. have misread the heavens..." Maybe... maybe he was meant not to be a lamb, but to be saved. Truly saved, physically, spiritually.

Making up his mind, he got to work, doing what he had lied about- healing him. He had the power, after all, gifted to him by the gods. But power required sacrifice. Multi-colored lights flashed throughout the cave as he worked, making a healing tonic for the disease slowly taking the coatl, his coatl, away from him. And he would not have that.

Finishing his brew, he held the cup to Adrian's mouth. "Drink," he murmured, voice smooth, dark and soothing, like honey. Adrian, barely conscious, unaware, sipped at the colorful liquid, and once it was in his system, passed out. Samedi wasn't worried though- it would work, it would heal him. It always did.

Days would pass before Adrian would open his eyes again. And when he awoke, despite his lack of food and water, had never felt more alive. Sluggish, tired, yes, but refreshed. "I.. hello? I don't believe I recognize this cave."

"Ah! You're awake." Unsettlingly pearly white teeth shone in the dark, and Samedi stepped out, leaning down next to the coatl.

"Y-yes. But who are you?"

The wildclaw's grin grew ever wider.

"Your savior."
