Biography

Nova Alioth is an Arcane dragon who descended from the Focal Point one night as a hatchling. The clan matriarch Lanayla had been unable to sleep, so she wandered out to the Starwood Strand to gaze at the glowing flowers. The Skydancer spotted a streak of white, too broad to be a cluster of foliage, and approached to investigate. What she found was a day-old hatchling perched on a branch, her pitch-black body barely visible and her sparkling wings reflecting the starwoods. When Lanayla attempted to greet her, she responded merely with a blank stare. Worried for the lost child, Lanayla brought the hatchling back to the lair. As Lanayla curled up to sleep, the little coatl said one thing: "My name is Nova."

Nova is quiet much of the time. She rarely speaks, but when she does, it's either in her native coatl tongue or, strangely, perfectly fluent Draconic. Her clanmates are not sure how she does this, but they are unable to ask her, because she always speaks in riddles and spells. This is true in both languages, as even the other coatls are baffled by the tunes she hums. She has a habit of appearing and disappearing, sometimes so suddenly that the others believe she may be teleporting. This ability is fascinating to the Arcane dragons, but immensely disturbing to those of other flights. When she appears, she remains silent as always, sometimes only replying to questions with a stare or a flick of the tongue.

It is rumored that she knows the meaning of the runes carved in the wall at the back of Alloraille's library.
