Quick Look:
Moonie never seems to be in much of a rush. He’s the sort to take his time, running by his own special and peculiar schedule that works just right for his chosen lifestyle – though it oftentimes inconveniences everyone else. He’s a placid, moon-eyed individual who has a great love for books and scrolls while the sun is out; at night, he turns his eyes to the stars and gets right to fervently sketching out maps and observations based on the things he sees. He is quite passionate about his star studies, and seems to have a strong aversion to getting any real sleep if it means missing out on something interesting.
While nothing else quite catches his attention as much as his studies, and while he might not seem to be the most interested in conversation, he is nevertheless a friendly and insightful fellow who has mastered the art of cold reading. Folks come to him to have their fortunes told, though he has never once claimed to be able to do anything of the sort. It's an interesting conundrum, but one he welcomes as it does earn him a bit of coin from time to time.

Moonie’s studies, in all honesty, are anything but innocent stargazing. Ever since that first story of the Shade passed through his ears, he’s wanted nothing more than to learn everything there is to learn about that Great Destroyer. In a way, the Shade has possessed him; he can think of no greater desire than to understand what the Shade is made of and what it plans to do with the planet. This insatiable curiosity (and, some would say, obsession) was what ultimately drove him from his home on the Starfall Isles – the old professor who had been in charge of his tutelage feared what his student was delving into, and shared those concerns with many likeminded individuals. Moonie didn’t resent anyone for their decisions, and left quietly without making any trouble.
Finding a spot that was close to the sky and without critical biases was not easy, and though he wandered far across the Isles, he found not a single place that would accept him gracefully. It took many months and a moment of serendipity for him to cross paths with Malta, a young librarian in charge of an expansive archive settled neatly on one of the tallest points of the Windswept Plateau. He convinced her to let him use the uppermost levels in exchange for rent and labor. Malta had nearly no choice but to accept his proposition, as he was more than qualified to aid in re-shelving and preservation and her library was sorely understaffed… though even she had her reservations. They still find themselves at odds from time to time, but she can’t seem to justify kicking him out.

Malta has found even more reasons to be upset with Moonie after discovering he's made friends with a very odd Longneck sorcerer. Moonie is quite fond of Tawvr, however, as the dreary-eyed creature has offered some much-needed insight that he probably couldn't have found anywhere else. Sure, Tawvr often speaks to himself, and sure, he has a habit of quietly appearing at one's shoulder when one isn't looking... but overall, he's not that bad of a fellow. Probably.
