__ Estella was the name of a kind, warm Imperial, the name of a dragon in love. She had fallen for Nicholas, another Imperial. She leapt, swirled, danced for joy under the stars, her namesake, under the moon beaming onto her in pride and shared joy, all in the name of this new-found feeling. Her love was innocent and sweet; Estella seemed to shine with purity, and she never shook in the face of the foreign feelings of this true love. The kindness inside showed outside as well; her feathers shone bright in any light; tiny patches glimmering more than most, creating an illusion of the very stars having descended to wrap around her. Everyone was happy, and all was going well for Estella.. until it wasn't. No dragon know exactly who, or what did it, but the sweet and innocent Estella was corrupted. Perhaps by the Shade, perhaps by some other cruel, wicked thing of malice. There were mutterings, whispers among the Sunbeam Ruins, rumours of it possibly having been the deed of the mates Llyr and Iku, but they were just that; rumours. The once beacon of purity became twisted, unfeeling. She who had seemed to be crafted out of the warm summer nights, out of starlight's glow, became a stone pillar, unmoving, cold. And Nicholas, who was once blessed by her light, always comforted by the caring Imperial, could only watch as she fell deep, deep, deep into the darkness. He could only watch as the one he loved became a skeleton, a husk of what she once was. Now, Estella is eternally wreathed in the freezing winter's darkness, billowing across those dull scales. Tendrils of shadows wrap around her neck, constricting; silencing. Her eyes no longer shine with warmth and love, no longer searching for Nicholas and his love. No, she no longer follows the path of love; Estella, in this moment, and forever more, will follow the calls of the dark. All will fall. |
