Biography

Orona Cade'
Caring/Patronizing/Confident
Attempted Peacekeeper

Viewed from afar, the three dragons are caricatures--the large, sinuous Imperial with his head thrown back, tail lashing; the Tundra facing him, so much smaller, fluffed and crouched in defense, not giving an inch; and the Skydancer between them, incongruously slender and posed with invitation, almost gregariousness. Only the strangely thick fur around its shoulders and chest gives any indication of the tension in the room, fluffed and waving in tune with its feathery antennae. It appears to be speaking, turning from one party to the other.

A pause. In a motion at once relaxed and huffy, the Imperial snorts and turns his back, striding majestically away. The Skydancer is pleased, ruff relaxing. The Tundra, less so.

First born of Clan Stonehearth's progenitors, Orona would probably have had a chip on their shoulder even without the other life events that formed their personality. As long as they can remember, they have never felt at ease or at home in their body, and this inspired...not necessarily a dislike of the Earthshaker, but more of a distrust and a question of whether they were meant for something more, or to serve another deity. They know very little about the other deities, but an encounter with a Light Sprite as a hatchling convinced them that they were meant to serve the Lightweaver, and so they have, to this day. "Cade'," their chosen second name, refers to this calling, bringing up the image of a brightly lit candle when spoken in Common. It also denotes gender-neutrality.

Though they started life as a Tundra, they underwent the painful process of species transformation to become a Skydancer while still quite young, with Atronas and Ikiera's complete support. The only relic of their former species is a ruff of extra hair over the neck and shoulders. They say that they feel much closer to being complete in this body, though there is still a feeling of Otherness that they can't quite overcome. To combat this (and to make sure any other members of the Clan with similar issues get the help they need), they have taken on the role of Counselor and Peacekeeper of the Clan, with mixed results. They believe they are doing the Lightweaver's work by resolving disputes and "bringing the Light of Knowledge" to quarreling Clan-mates, but this often results in lectures on what they themself would do in that particular situation, regardless of the specific wishes of the dragons involved. They are not a very good listener, and are more self-centered than they would like to admit, although they are working on becoming less so. The other dragons of Stonehearth all admit that, while a very trying beast to be around, Orona does care deeply about the Clan, and they love them for it.

The subject of children is a difficult one to bring up around Orona. Technically female-bodied, they did once desire children and nested with a transient member of the Clan. It was not a good experience for them, and the children have since left to serve the Earthshaker in whatever way they can. Orona does not speak of them unless they have to.
