- History -

As the leader of the clan, you might wonder how such a selfish dragon came into such a place of power. Well, it began in the Windswept Plateau where DeTonic had just left his birth clan, setting out to find another to call his home. His journey took him throughout the region until he settled for a small clearing among the bamboo in the Zephyr Steppes. During his journey he learned how to hunt, track and catch the local rats and quails to feed himself.

One day on another hunting expedition to stock up on food for the coming storms, he came across Goldenseal, another Mirror who was wandering through the Steppes. She wasn't faring well, looking half-starved and parched. Despite his selfish nature, he approached and offered her a place in his home until she regained her strength. She agreed, grateful for his kindness. The two returned home where she was given a meal from DeTonic's stores and fresh rainwater stored in the bamboo.

After a few weeks of housing, it was time to return to her own journey. But when the time came to finally leave, she found that she didn't want to leave him here alone. He curled up in a small groove in the earth, protected from the wind by the thick bamboo that grew above. He seemed lonely and was in dismay that his only company was leaving.

She turned to him, and asked if she should really leave, or if she should stay here with him. Having spent such a long time living with DeTonic, she realized that she valued his companionship, and maybe... Maybe she even loved him, considering all he had done for her.

In the end she stayed, helping with adding to the food stores and expanding their territory to house more lost wanderers. After a while, DeTonic and she had a nest of three eggs together. A week of careful tending and guarding resulted in the hatching of two bright-eyed and eager children. Domro and Tyssa, brother and sister. The third egg unfortunately hadn't hatched; the youngling inside was not strong enough to break the shell. Although Goldenseal was overjoyed at the birth of her two children, the loss of the third upset her deeply; to have so much love for something that would never share her world...

- Life -

DeTonic hadn't been as deeply effected by the loss of his third child, instead he chose to comfort his mate and do his best for their family. He traveled to the Trading Post, bringing with him items to trade and treasure to buy supplies with. While he was there he noticed other dragons; dragons who were imbued with magic and shimmering gems; dragons who scales were as polished as metal or whose wings shifted with the constellations of stars. Struck with such awe and amazement, he asked how they had been endowed with such lovely patterns and markings. Some replied that they had simply been born that way, while others spoke of expensive scrolls that when read, transforms you; changing your appearance breed, and even one for remaining a hatchling for the rest of your life!

DeTonic knew that he must get his claws on a few of those scrolls! To be as dazzling as the stars; to have living gemstone shine through your body! He knew that he would not be happy until he could be the best, most impressive dragon to visit the Post. So, as he returned home, he began saving up treasure and gems in hopes of being able to buy those magical scrolls.

He made it home to his lair, to find some new inhabitants sharing the space with his mate and children. Three new dragons had shown up; Hallofire a bright Nocturne, Jun a Wildclaw that shimmered like sunset, and Felka a rustic looking Bogsneak. The three had been traveling through the Steppes and were in need of a new home. Goldenseal, being as kind as she is, offered them a bed here which each gratefully accepted. DeTonic was surprised to say the least, but recounted his discoveries from the Trading Post, explaining his new long-term plan to save up for the scrolls. Goldenseal agreed, wondering what she would look like as well with such beautiful markings. DeTonic did not take well the new arrivals at first, feeling frustrated at having to restock the food so often and the need to clear out more space in the cramped lair. But to his pleasure, the three began to realize and make themselves useful; heading out in a hunting party of their own to replenish the food they ate and selling items to pay for the renovations and even to fund the scrolls.

DeTonic pleased with this turn of events, realized that as the founder of this Lair, he was the leader. He decided to take in a few more dragons; Blood a ridgeback with a striking poisonous appearance, Chance and experienced warrior, and Actinolite a young guardian needing a place of residence.
