Mermista was never meant to be a dragon, but her she is. A dragon. Life has a funny way of working out, and for Mermista that meant being granted a silly wish by a witch with a drastically different definition of humor than she did.

In Mermista's defense, she didn't know the old woman was a witch, and she certainly didn't know that the wretch had a rude habit of saying "Be careful what you wish for!", snapping her fingers with a smug smirk on her face, and changing one's life forever.
