Biography
Jaine
I heard, I heard, across a moonlit sea,
The old voice warning me,
Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea,
Beware, beware...
...of me.
The old voice warning me,
Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea,
Beware, beware...
...of me.
Once upon a time there was a pirate queen, who ruled over all the waters of the Emerald Isles - in practice, for in word of law they were ruled by the kingdom of Ameya, who had something of a bone to pick with the pirate queen regarding the whole affair. But for the purposes of the sailors who had to make their living in her waters, the pirate queen was queen enough, for her fleet was quick and their cannons numerous enough to smoke the sun from the sky.
The pirate queen was known all up and down the coast for three things: her cutlass (keen), her crew (fearless) and her heart (as cold as ice). No man who crossed her lived - nor any woman, for she was well apprised of such things, being a woman herself, and not terribly picky about where she buried her cutlass, regardless. Those ships she chose to take became hers, without question, or the poor fool crew who dared argue the matter found themselves dead and sank to the bottom of the sea.
For ten years, she reigned, the only-slightly-and-with-some-nervous-hesitance mistress of the Isles - until, at last, a challenger appeared.
He was young, and bright, and dashing, in the way of such men, copper hair well-coifed beneath his bicorne akimbo - shirt worn wide, loosely buttoned, jacket as oft slung free over one shoulder as two. In short, a man who, it is clear, had made his way to his rank honestly, and with the love of his men behind him, for no man born to rank would ever so disgrace it.
He plied his trade to the King of Ameya, and offered his command, and his ship to lead the hunt, and was awarded it; he took the seas with seven galleons.
