Biography

One day an egg was found in a nature clan while a few dragons were fighting in the coliseum. The egg had been surrounded by malevolent spirits, otherworldly auras, and infestation hounds. The dragons that found the egg fought off the spirits and brought the egg to their clan. An unusual egg it was, all green and bubbly. The baby that hatched from it was also quite unusual. She had no parents of course, being an egg found in the coliseum. So a dragon had to name her and help her in the nursery.

Once again, Circe was being made fun of. All she wanted to do was peacefully read her book. “Ha! All you do is read, probably because you have no friends!” Violet said to Circe. “Aww so lonely. Do you need a friend?” Violet said with a baby voice. Violet’s friends laughed.

“Be careful! Or she might curse you!” One of Violet’s friends said to her in a mocking tone. “Witch!” the friend hissed. All Circe did was get up and move to another spot. She was used to being picked on by Violet and her friends. Ever since she was small and was proclaimed to have a “curse” on her, she had been alone. “Forever an outcast,” she whispered. Circe began to remembered of when the “curse” first started.

At first, Circe was very happy. She had a friend. But they hadn’t been named yet so she didn’t know what to call her. Circe had started to cry, she was hungry. A dragon in the nursery ran over to see what was wrong. The dragon to reach Circe was the dragon she didn’t like. Although this dragon worked in a nursery, they seemed to hate hatchlings. The dragon reached over to touch Circe… And bam! The bookshelf near the hatchling’s bed collapsed on the dragon. The nursery workers gasped and Circe saw a dark figure disappear out of the hatchery. “Witch!” A dragon yelled.

“Sorcerer!” Another said.

Circe had nothing to do with the book shelf collapsing. She tried to talk and tell them that she didn’t mean to, but the dragons ran out of the nursery. “It wasn’t me! I didn’t mean twwoo!” Circe wailed. Eventually almost all the dragons in the clan were crowded around her. Some dragons had cleaned up the dead dragon and sat the bookshelf back up. The elder was at the front of the crowd and another dragon that was there when the bookshelf collapsed told the elder about what happened. “So, little hatchling. Are you a witch?!” the elder skydancer yelled.

“Nwo!”

“Are you a sorcerer?!” the elder replied coming a bit closer.

“Nwo!”

“Lies!” the elder screamed. “I know what we should name you now, Circe! After that old witch in the stories,” The elder was really close to her now. And wait… was that a knife in her hand? Circe backed up scared. She was gonna die! She didn’t want to die now! Not like this!

“All those plague and arcane beasts around her egg must have done this! She is cursed with bad luck!” One of the dragons that had found her egg yelled.

“All the more reason to kill her now!” The skydancer elder hissed. Circe backed up. The knife was coming toward her face, almost in slow motion when… bam! The bookshelf that had crushed the other nurse fell on the elder. Once again, Circe had done nothing to do with it. She hadn’t willed the bookshelf to fall on those dragons! She hadn’t done anything wrong! Yet they still blamed her. Now, all the other dragons were panicking. They didn’t know what to do. “Well we can’t kill her! She’ll just drop bookshelves on us…” One dragon said.

“Well then. If we can’t kill her we’ll just have to keep her,” The leader stated curtly.

The other dragons were protesting, “She killed two dragons! We can’t keep her!”

“She’s cursed! No one wants her!”

“She’s bad luck!”

“We need to throw her out of the clan!”

“SILENCE!” The leader boomed. She looked into Circe’s eyes. “Even if she is cursed or is bad luck I’m sure she didn’t mean to hurt anyone. I’m also NOT comfortable abandoning a hatchling who could have done nothing wrong. Now everyone, return to what you are doing. You will treat Circe no different,” Circe was grateful for the leader, not allowing her to die for doing nothing wrong. But though the leader told the clan to treat Circe no different than the others, the clan did not follow that command. No one did. Not even her friend, who was then named Violet..

For most of her life Circe was an outcast. Ignore and neglected for a curse she did not have. The clan believed that if someone talked to her or touched her, that they would die or suffer. She had no friends. No one to talk to. And if she tried to talk to another dragon, they’d either ignore her, run away, or the dragon’s parent would pull them away and tell them not to go near her. She became shy, introverted, and desperate. Desperate for someone who would like her. Desperate for someone who would talk to her. Desperate for a friend. But Circe couldn’t run away. She didn’t know how to care for herself or how to gather food. All she got to eat was what the others didn’t want. But it was still enough food for her. She wanted to run away. She wanted to leave so bad. “Hey! Listen to me!” Circe realized she had spaced out. It was Violet yelling at her. She looked at Violet. Circe’s eye’s were cold, emotionless, her deep red plague eyes seemed to glow a bit brighter. She stood up. “Sit back down! Y-you cursed plague infestation!” Violet said to her.

That had really done it for Circe. Now she was mad. Circe surged toward Violet until she was inches away from Violet’s face. “I am absolutely DONE, with you picking on me! It has been so annoying that on top of me being ignored and treated terribly, YOU just HAVE to bully me, insult me, and make me feel so bad about myself. So I’ve asked you before nicely, but now I’m asking you again not so nicely: STOP. HARASSING. ME.” She hissed in Violet’s face. And like Violet’s friends had done, Violet ran.

Oh Gladekeeper what did she just do! Violet is gonna tell the clan leader and Circe will be in so much trouble! She ran to her “lair”. Her “lair” was actually a small small cave that had been abandoned. She grabbed all of her possessions, which she didn’t have many of, and stuffed them in a satchel. She also grabbed some plants she had stored in her lair. Circe did NOT want to be yelled at again. And at this moment she realized that she needed to run away. She couldn’t stay here in this terrible clan where she is neglected and ignored. Circe needed to leave, for her own sake. All she had to do now was hide and wait.

It was dark outside now. Circe crept out of her lair slowly. Everyone was asleep. She started to walk toward the path. Circe couldn’t believe it. She was going to escape! She was going to be free! She was excited. Circe stopped for a moment. She was right in front of the hatchery entrance. Without thinking, she walked inside. And there it was. The bookshelf that started it all. Started her torment. Created her “curse”. After all this time she still wondered what made that bookshelf fall over. She walked over to it and bent down. The bookshelf seemed fine. But underneath the cot that she used to sleep in was a piece of paper. Circe took it. She was curious of what it might say, but she was ready to find out.

Circe unfolded the piece of paper, it read:

“To whomever might find this:

Run. Get away from here as fast as you can. You may think this is a wonderful place, but it is not. The dragons here do terrible things to others. The leader hates dragons from other flights You will die if you stay. One way or another they will kill you. The leader here has magic. Magic that can make things happen. It can make others do things. Make others die or become angry. It can manipulate the minds of others. Do not fall for it. Sneak away in the night. Do not stay here. Move somewhere far away. Put this paper back where you found it so another may find it.

And remember. Whatever you do, DON’T. COME. BACK.”

Circe realized that the dark figure she had seen dart out of the hatchery was the clan leader. It was obvious that Circe was a plague dragon, her deep red eyes gave that away. So the clan leader made the bookshelf collapse, and when the elder tried to kill her, she made the others agree. After that the leader must’ve made the bookshelf collapse on the elder. She had to have done it so Circe would suffer. Suffer from supposedly being “cursed”. But she only suffered because she was from somewhere else. Instead of her “curse” killing and making others suffer, it just made Circe suffer. And so Circe left, never to be seen again by that Nature clan. She moved back to her homeland. To her where her eyes said she was from. Circe moved back to Plague. She met another guardian with similar colors. And right then and there she started her life over and promised she would never let herself be who she was. Circe would only be who she was: A non-cursed plague guardian.
