GHEDE the spellbound prince |

Ghede was born among gold and silks, his family rich from the forest around them and his parents royalty in his birth kingdom. He was one prince of many siblings, and was a member of one of his parents' final clutches. As each sibling grew, they took over a leadership position in the clan, or served as ambassadors to a different clan in order to make connections that would hopefully lead to more prosperity in the Nature kingdom. Ghede became the latter, sent away to live with another prosperous clan. Little did he know, every step he took away from the safety of the kingdom was being watched by a lumbering Gaoler and a tiny, shadowy Fae. You see, the Grotto needed money. Underground business dealings in breed changing, extra eyes, and other body morphology had to be kept, well, underground, in case some dragon with morals caught wind and made a fuss. The tiny clan subsisted off of minor scrying done by Aethra in between Rhea's major clientele, but parlor tricks could only get them so far. Lorn and Belfry were sent off to find a way to earn the clan some treasure, and when the two of them stumbled upon the wandering prince and learned of his travels (and immense wealth), they set a plan into action. Belfry is a shadow dragon, master of illusion. She cast a spell on the young prince in his sleep, blinding him so that no light could reach his eyes. Behind his blindfold, Ghede believes he is serving his role as ambassador. He pictures an astute Light Clan allied with his own, rolling yellow grasses of the Sunbeam Ruins stretching out beyond him in every direction. The reality is, he lives in the Grotto's dank underground chasms. The sunlight on his skin and the grass beneath his paws is simply an illusion of Belfry's design. Ghede serves his purpose well, both in his mind and in the eyes of the Grotto. He frequently corresponds with his home clan in order to report back and not raise alarm. At Rhea's discretion, however, he will ask his home kingdom for money or items that the supposed Light clan needs for an experiment, or to document, or to prepare for battle against another group. The Grotto has become rich with wealth and gems since Ghede's arrival, and the dragons down there gained some meat on their bones thanks to the food they could now afford. A Summer Sphinx watches Ghede at all times, making sure his blindfold is never removed. Should light ever touch his eyes, the illusion Belfry created for him behind his blindfold will shatter, and he will find out where he truly is. |
