Biography

Mhertaf left the high society of the Mirrorlight Promenade and came to Frosgailt to experience life in the tundra. For sweet and trusting Mhertaf, it was not long until she fell foul of hostile Longnecks after a great deal of her treasure appears to be stolen by them - threatening them with retribution should her treasure not be returned to her - only for the Longnecks to turn out innocent. Stranded in permanent winter and dealing with attempts on her life to silence her, Mhertaf turned to the members of Frosgailt for safety and to try her luck rather than return east.

She is currently trying to hire clan members to investigate the theft. In the meantime, she has accepted the proposal to care for the hatchlings following her arrival. She also takes in orphaned hatchlings under her wing as foster children.

Mhertaf, despite her shyness, enjoys having a theatrical appearance. She is a great seer, though she rarely sees success in the things she actually wants. She is very conscious of her low social status in the clan, which leads her to spend most of her time alone. Mhertaf is eccentric, takes her appearance as a seer seriously, and usually speaks in ethereal and mystical tones. Her lair is veiled in incense.

At home, due to her strangeness, she was constantly harassed by her betters, and developed an unknown substance problem that she brought with her to Frosgailt. After she was instated as caretaker for the clan's orphans, she stopped.

She is very sensitive, most notably when people doubt her abilities as a caretaker or a seer. Mhertaf expresses deep insult and an inability to cope with social pressure, something she considers to be the highest embarrassment to the rest of the (mostly barbaric) clan. Her poor control over this emotion sometimes leads her to behave arrogantly, unprofessionally, and childishly. However, she is loyal to the clan and not afraid to showcase her fighting spirit. She has participated in one battle, tending to the wounded and dead along with Ismund.
