An autumn breeze whispers, there is a cool snap to every breath. You see a skydancer with a pair of gloves carefully poring over a buzzing box as she closes it to put away.The filigree decorating her face flashes in the pale sunlight. She is murmuring words of encouragement to the bees you can't quite hear, and her voice is just a wisp of fog. This is the clan beekeeper, a reserved, kindly creature. She takes you aside to show you the golden jars of honey she has managed to collect from her little workers. They gleam deliciously, and when offered the chance to try a spoonful, you find the honey is tinged with a slightly citrus taste. Mapleheart goes on to ramble about all the places she knows her bees like to go for nectar and the like, growing more excitable by the moment. When she's done rambling, which isn't for quite some time, you find yourself walking away with a jar of honeycomb and a few pieces of honey candy, a smile on your face. |
Long ago, when she was just an egg, Mapleheart had been stolen. From the nest, her egg traveled deep into the nature clan territories, toward an uncertain fate. Yet her thieves somehow dropped her along the journey. Not many days from hatching, her egg cracked open to the lush wilds, not a dragon in sight.
Mapleheart grew to the lessons of nature, and came out a little strange because of it. She whispers to the bees and they whisper back. Her knowledge of and relationships with the beastclans are almost... familial. No one ever dares ask more details than that. She is beautiful and fits in fine for now. Besides, Mapleheart's honey is the best in the region.
Though lonely and sometimes odd, Mapleheart has found partnership in her pen pal and mate, Caland. Through an enchanted book she keeps on her hip, where she records her beekeeping knowledge and notes on their health, she also communicates with her partner. Their respective notes magically appear in the other's notebooks, and they are as sweet as the honey they harvest.
