Biography
S T A R S E E K E R
______ A humble archivist named Starseeker lived at one of the lowest levels of the Observatory at Focal Point. Austere and shy, most others limited their interactions with him due to boredom or intimidation. Likewise, Starseeker preferred the sidelines, waiting and watching. His primary objective was to record the past, present, and future. He had an entire floor to himself, with rooms of scrying mirrors to record prophecies of what was to come, rooms enchanted to record history as it happened, and of course the archive of stories past. He quite liked stories. After making the rounds at quarterly hours, double checking his enchantments were up and running, cataloguing newly filled scrolls, he would spend his time reading in the archives. ______ His absolute favorites were the mythologies and star charts from his colleague, the Astronomer, from one of the highest levels. Starseeker admired his precision, craftsmanship, and analytical theories. He’d never met the imperial, but he should like to one day, work permitting. ______ Then there were... the aliens: the Trickster and the Scholar. He does not believe anyone else noticed them, the way they glowed differently than those native to this planet or how feathers and furs would stand on end in their vicinity. He handled their paperwork too, catalogued and archived in triplicate. Their knowledge of the specific star quadrants they studied were suspiciously vast. Starseeker fully believed they weren’t even from the same galaxy, those two, but they understood each other like no others would and stuck together like glue despite having vastly opposing personalities. He liked to observe these colleagues from a distance sometimes, when their paths would cross in the Observatory mid-levels. Once, the Trickster had played a passing prank on him. He never quite recovered from the embarrassment. ______ Most interestingly, the Pirate had joined him for a short while in the archives, researching for some some foolhardy quest. ”I want to become unto the stars,” he had said. Foolhardy indeed. Starseeker was beside himself cleaning up after the rowdy rouser, but it did uplift his spirits that some other dragon could make use of all his records. The company wasn’t so bad either, even if the Pirate made little to no notice of him. |
THE ARCHIVIST ______ The Archivist sat and worked in his lonesome level, watching and recording and reading as everyone else’s stories unfolded. He had no story of his own. ______ Or, perhaps, this was his story. ______ Or, perhaps, he was the storyteller. ______ He was content to sit and watch and record and read. |
