Darenthal

Darenthal is the proud and strong second prince of an Arcane clan. He thoroughly enjoys hunting. One day, when he was out hunting for crabs by the ocean bordering the territory of one of the oceanic kingdoms (ruled by the infamous and iron fisted ruling duo Levia and Starbuck). His prey would be hiding by the rocks on the craggy shores so he chose a very remote beach to hunt the first cliff he alighted on seemed to lack rocks and hiding places for crabs, but just as Darenthal was getting ready to continue his hunting he heard a soft crying. He walked back to the edge of the cliff and came across a young and very beautiful dragon maiden down on the beach; she couldn't see him.


To him, she seemed as the most innocent of prey, so unaware of her own surroundings and so overwhelmed with the world around her. After a few minutes, the Skydancer sadly stood up and began to walk towards the water. Darenthal noticed that she was the complete opposite of him, he was always sure of himself; that every step and wingbeat was the correct one. He was also sure that no matter what action or choice he made he was willing and able to deal with the consequences of said action.

She, on the other hand, hesitated with every step she took, every movement she made seemed to be riddled with doubt and uncertainty, yet there was a sort of graceful resolve and forbearance that she possessed. An almost quiet sort of strength that wished to be free.

It wasn't until she was neck deep in water that Darenthal realized what was happening; the beautiful young dragon, so unaware of everything was trying to destroy herself. He leaped into action; more sure of this choice than any he'd ever made before.

Darenthal snatched the young Skydancer out of the water, and flung her back onto the sandy beach where she lay limply, weakly looking up at him with shame in her eyes, He towered over here and looked down in pity. What could have driven such a lovely creature to such a choice?

She shivered and he took her to a more protected area on the beach and she told him everything. How scared she was of her brother, how hopeless life was for her, and how she had no way of escaping her Kingdom. Darenthal was moved to compassion, but demanded to know if she came to the beach often and if she'd try to kill herself again if he weren't there to save her. She couldn't answer him. Darenthal told her, much more gently than before, that if she ever came to that beach again, he'd be there to talk to her and convince her that life was worth living.

She came to the beach nearly every day after that and slowly she fell for the brave (if somewhat overconfident) dragon. Darenthal also fell in love with Jynx (as she was known) and even gave her a unicorn as a gift and as a symbol of his love for her.

After the arranged marriage contract with Galtan came to light, Darenthal flew into a rage at Jynx's brother, ready to duel him one on one for Jynx's freedom, but she begged and begged him not to, and to instead find another solution. The two agreed that as soon as Jynx was able, they'd elope and run back to the arcane kingdom together or make a life somewhere else so long as they were together.
