Biography
Finally came around, haven't they? Vestrit smirked to herself, waiting for the signal. Any second now.
A few minutes later, two hooded figures appeared on the outskirts of her abode, wandering around the old rusty gate. Shaking her head bemusedly, Vestrit headed outside to welcome her guests. "I have been expecting you," she said, as she approached a rather startled looking pair of messengers.
"You---you have?" one of them, a young pearlcatcher, squeaked. His companion, a not-much-older skydancer, looked equally spooked though more determined to not give it away.
"indeed," Vestrit said leisurely. "What brings you two all the way here to the Woods from Mirrorlight Promenade? Surely something isn't up?"
This time, it was the skydancer who spoke. "We have been requested to summon you--"
Vestrit threw back her head and laughed, so hard that fiery black smoke exited from her nostrils. "How cute," she sneered, "that the officials sitting in that glass castle think they can just 'summon' me whenever they want." She roared and continued to laugh, the guffaws echoing through the dark forest. Wiping away her tears, Vestrit snatched the scroll from the bewildered skydancer's claw and read the contents for herself.
"Hmmm..." she mused. Although she had no intention of assisting the leaders of city of lights and mirrors, the promise of adventure and excitement did pique her interest. As one of the very few Old Magic priestesses and probably only active user of Dark Magic remaining in modern Sornieth, deciphering ancient runes and hexes was right up her alley. Perhaps she could even find something interesting or powerful along the way...though then the problem was how to get rid of the pesky Sunbeam scouts and investigators. There were, of course, a few methods....Vestrit smacked her lips, revealing a dangerous row of sharp incisors. That would be a problem for another day. For now...
"Excuse me," the skydancer piped, seeming to have recovered somewhat from her earlier shock, even though fear was still etched in her eyes.
"Ah yes," Vestrit chortled. "Tell your boss that I'll be heading over there at the agreed time." With that, she slammed the gate close and disappeared in a cloud of fiery smoke.
