-Dale Evans He has a heart of fire that flutters under his feathers, inside his chest. It's bursting with light that he can't contain- and that he won't contain. He is a walking beam of sunlight, spreading warmth and happiness where he can. There are many ways he does this; he makes jokes, he helps and talks and reaches out to everyone who crosses his path. But the way that he loves the most is by song. He falls in love with songs. He's fascinated by song, the lilting sounds and humming tones that sounds so different to each dragon that listens. He knows he hears it differently than non-Coatls do, but that just makes it all so much more interesting too. If he makes his own songs, then he can make it so enjoyable to everyone who hears it. He first learns to sing, starting from copying the melody of his mother's lullaby as a hatchling. Then he gets really into singing and goes beyond the basic tune of hatchling songs, moving into ballads and story-songs. Those, those big storytelling songs delight everyone and he can really get into the theatrics of acting out the story too. Then he picks up an instrument. Well, to be honest, it's a rod of bamboo that had fallen to the ground. But once he poked holes into it and started blowing air into it, it was a passable imitation of a flute. The notes are reedy but clear and he teaches himself how to play. Once he gets an actual flute, it sounds a lot more like real music. Then he strums a harp, which is significantly less portable than his flutes. But it's nice, and it's fun, and he makes dragons smile and listen to his cheerful song. And the harp leaves his mouth free to sing all he wants too! |
