Enodia
~Traveler~

If ever you feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

Uh-oh, looks like this lovely little implet wandered a little too far from her lair (42482, impishnature), and now she's off to see the world!

...though it seems like that will have to wait a while, as she's since found love within the first lair she's visited (63984, chordeilinae).

Sadly, it seems like it wasn't meant to be. After a brief month of joy and love, her mate perished in a cave in, along with several of her lairmates. As the surviving dragons have decided to leave for a better life, she too has decided to go back to her journey accross the globe.

After a brief stint for emotional healing in the clan of Spectral Dragons, she is ready to continue globetrotting (spectraldragon, 26661)!

It wasn't long before she ended up in a lively, windy lair (Harvestable, 68692). While many of the members of the clan were kind and tried their hardest to make her feel welcome, Enodia felt she didn't quite fit in with the overly-friendly busybodies and took off once more...

As she attempted to slink off before any members of the clan awoke, she was spotted by a fae. She was afraid that the tiny dragon would turn her laving into a big to-do, but was instead rather surprised when the fae landed squarely on her nose. Before she had time to react, the fae had snapped a pair of goggles onto her face and muttered something about staying safe on her travels before flitting off into the sunrise as quickly as he had appeared.

The wind blew Enodia off course into a lair in the middle of the Abiding Boneyard. The lair was accustomed to travellers from all flights and walks of life, but as they were in the middle of a fierce dominance battle and she didn't want to join the innumerable dragons proudly marching off to serve the Plaguebringer, Enodia decided to only stay one night and was sent off with many calls to come again anytime.

Enodia wandered for many days before finding herself lost in the dense jungle of the Viridian Labrynth. She came to rest in a wide clearing by a river, staring in humble awe at the chaotic tangle of forest life around her. It was both beautiful and frightening, and she was unsure how well she would fare in this new land.
From deep in the undergrowth, something moved. A nimble but elderly Tundra stepped towards her out of the shadows, smiling warmly. Perched on his shoulders was a small green Fae who carried herself with an air of discrete dignity - the matriarch of the clan inhabiting this stretch of forest.
"I thought I heard a newcomer approaching," the Fae said with a knowing smile. "Welcome, traveler. Welcome home."
-
Enodia stayed with the River Clan for quite some time, and gained a new love both for the forest these dragons called home and for a certain dapper gentleman among them. They raised a clutch of four hatchlings together, who, in an unexpected twist in loyalty, all ran away to join the forces of the Flamecaller in a battle for dominance. Enodia was distraught, and decided to set off in search of them. She crept off in the night, leaving her mate with a note of explanation and a promise to return someday, and set off to parts unknown. She knew she might never see her dear children again, but could not bear to stay in this place any longer - the memory of them was much too strong here.

In her quest she travelled to clan ruled by Aresha, Mirror Lady of Battle (NicoleEirin, 35746). Enodia spent some time there, until she felt urge to travel again.

After a brief rest and a short fling with a charming Casanova, Enodia was ready to leave the Snowsquall Tundra and travel on.

After a fairly long time vacationing in the domain of the Lightweaver, even seeing the clan through their move to the Beacon of the Radient Eye from their previously more shaded area. She even had a fling with another imperial, in which both he and their children were exalted to Lightweaver for their dominance efforts. Now that the clan seemed to be rather calm, she decided it was time to move on once more, and traveled on.

She did not get far, however. Feeling an urge to see the Hewn City one last time before she left the Lightweaver's domain - she had felt at ease there due to its shadowy state reminding her of her birthplace - she aimed for the riverbank, seeing as there was more free space to land on there. Unfortunately, however, the spot she landed on hid an old cellar, which caved in from her weight, causing her to hurt her wings fairly badly. Luckily, a nearby member of the Outpost Clan (Seadevil, 72679) had heard the crash and her cry of distress, and came to help her. After careful retrieval, the healers of the clan judged that she would need to rest for a while before continuing on. As such, she spent some time there and healed slowly but surely. Since her wings would never quite return to the strength they had had before the fall, however, she was gifted with a pair of bronze braces to fit to them so that her capability of flight would not be impeded. Once equipped, she thanked the clan and traveled on.

She'd come to Clan Huldra thinking that in a fire lair, she might look into the fate of her long lost children. The outcome couldn't have been any further from her desire to look into this strange betrayal of dietal devotion - for soon she caught the eye of an Imperial warrior and he, he certainly caught hers.

He was dashing, handsom, strong and unbelievably fascinating to the Shadow dragon, with his story of amnesia and waking up in this Fire Lair with no memories of where he came from. No memories came to him except those of language and those of the body - he was still a master warrior, albeit one whose origin might never be known.
"I am still very much of the Earthshaker. I can't explain it, because as it stands I don't know my homeland, even less so if I liked it - but I feel this connection with the soil and rock beneath my paws. I am fortunate, for Fire is very close to being Earth, and so this is a good home for me," and then he went on to explain to her that even though her once lost children had gone to serve a diety quite different from those of their mother, he was sure it must be what felt right for them, and by extension was right for her.

Enodia found that her heart was unexpectedly soothed by these words, and spent a longer time in this lair as to learn more about the Flight her hatchlings had devoted themselves too. Takyroth, of course, became very close to her - a relationship of platonic love that eventually gave fruit in the form of four eggs. Takyroth promised he'd see that the children all came to the Flight that was right for them in the end, and so Enodia left her faith in his paws, leaving the lair to once more pursue her wanderlust.

Once again Enodia found herself in the light domain, but not by choice. She had been about to enter The Shifting Expanse when an unusual storm threw her off course, forcing her to take refuge at the edge of Light territory. She suspected that the storm was not natural, considering the habits of the Lightning dragons. Very tired, and with her wing braces in need of maintenance, she decided to wait out the storm in a small cave and to look around for signs of civilization in the morning.

The storm lasted two more days, and was so fierce by the second day that it was risky just going near the entrance of her little sanctuary. By the end of the storm she was also very hungry, and so set out immediately to hunt and scavenge for food. Very soon she came across a dragon named Latto. He was grumpy, and didn't talk much, but led her to civilization. Mumbled something about "**** campers" at one point. She discovered that she had wandered into the land of Clan Rose Lovella. It was one of the largest clans she had ever seen, consisting of two small cities, a distant village, and a large capital city. Enodia was welcomed quite warmly; they gave her room and board, gifted her with decorative trinkets (a lamp for her future travels that attached to her tail and some lovely gold bracelets) and fed her some unusual but very satisfying local dishes. She was fondly reminded of the hospitality and care free nature of the wind flight clan she had stayed with some time ago. These dragons, fortunately, could more easily tell that she liked her personal space. ...Mostly.

It turned out that she had arrived just in time for the Midnight Romp, a local holiday of sorts that took place a few days after her arrival. She was rested by then, so she took part in the festivities. Though she didn't quite understand the purpose of the holiday she still had a blast running around the streets of the capital, playing a game called capture the flag while dressed as wolf. Once daybreak came she was invited to stay with Pharoes, the clan's diplomat, and his lovely mate Milaro. She had been sleeping at an in called Rose Thorn up until then. She absolutely adored Milaro's garden, which was filled to the brim with flowers and berry bushes.

She stayed in Rose Lovella until just after the Spring Solstice Celebration, a huge event for that clan. With her gifts and some food from a going away party (this clan really liked parties, it seemed) she cheerfully set off for the fire flight.

When she came to rest in the Clan of Rue, Enodia was utterly exhausted. When she felt rested she joined the clan in a peaceful day of lounging. Precious kept her company and showed her the lift that they as the Imperials of Rue lived. It was nothing fabulous but the land was warm and the food was plentiful. She stayed long enough she forgot that she had once enjoyed traveling. One night she woke with a need to fly. One she had never felt before. Irides, Precious' mate sat watching the night sky when she ran into him. Irides understood her feeling, he had once felt that way himself, that was until he traveled here and found his Precious Jewel. Irides bid her farewell and watched her take flight.

She flew until the sun rose over the horizon, kissing a vast plain of tall crumbling spires in the distance. The Mirror Light Promenade. She spotted a Tundra and a Coatl, and glided down to them to indulge her curiosity as to why they werent flying to their destination. She perched atop a pillar and called out to them. Vintage and Pillar turned to the direction of the call. She asked what they were doing and they obliged saying they were on a small expedition for a few days looking for artifacts and fossils. It was just after the Jubilee at the time and they were eager to get back to the field after their flights celebratory events. She asked if perhaps she could tag along for a while, as shed been flying for quite some time by herself, and would enjoy the company. The pair nodded and she drifted down to them to explore for the day. After that, she actually quite enjoyed going on expeditions with them. She stayed for well over a year before starting to perhaps feel a bit homesick. After divvying up her collection amongst Vintage and Pillar, her two closest friends in the clan, she bid farewell and left in the early morning, just as she arrived.

Her journey had been a long one, filled with many friends and a warm welcome throughout the clans she'd stayed with but a part of her after all this time had changed, a soft sadness and nostalgia that needed to be quenched before she could continue on in her explorations.
She made her way back through the Willowwisp Grove, followed the paths she remembered only vaguely now, a soft recollection of losing herself amongst the brambles in her efforts to explore just that little bit further than she'd been told to go.
Her clan leaders met her with surprise, so familiar and yet so different having been gone for so long and from such a young age. But the shock soon passed to glee, a buzz of excitement at their traveller finally making her way home once more.
She settled back into her home, resting and rejoicing at the reunion.
Her clan leader however, smiled softly, sadly, knowing that soon enough the call to leave their home would come once more and soon enough she would depart.
But at least they all knew now, that one day she would yet again return to tell them of her adventures.
