______ Dragons were never supposed to live forever. They degrade. They wither. They die. It was just a natural part of life, but not many can accept that. There's a reason that time doesn't go backward.

______ His body was in agony. It creaked and groaned as he shuffled towards his research station, trying to stave off the onset of rigor mortis. He did not breathe. His heart did not beat. His body was as cold as the ice surrounding him. He supposed he had brought it upon himself, refusing to accept the totality. The papers before him were foreign; they had made sense once upon a time, but after he died, the knowledge had fled him. Hours upon hours were wasted trying to recall what had been inscribed.

______ Even now, his mind was fleeing him. He wept, but no tears would fall, nor would they ever.
