Biography

20181024_graphic1_by_death_in_the_orchard-dcqadff.png
I'm sweet as can be,
can't you see?

Her toes curled in the soft grass of the Arcane nest, delicate, veined wings giving their first impatient flutter. The antennae sprouting from her forehead vibrated at the sensory input. Brilliant fushcia eyes opened, then closed, protesting the light of the star. Like a micro deer finding its footing, the little skydancer rose, wobbling as she took her first few steps.

Mother and Father watched in earnest, tending to the other two hatchlings of their clutch. She felt funny, though, and realized that she still had the majority of her shell about her little frame. Giving a defiant, high-pitched squawk, she did her best to extend her wings, and felt the strange weight lifted. Relief came with the loss of the hard shell. She took another step, and immediately became reunited with the bedding of the nest.

The elder dragons- her parents- stifled a giggle at the newborn. Determined yet, she clambered onto her paws, lids fluttering back open. It would take time to adjust to this burning thing in the sky, she was sure. Another step, and she lost her footing once more, but this time she tumbled from the nest, creating a cloud of downy bedding that floated around her and forced a sneeze from tiny nostrils. Her breath left her in a huff, claws digging into the ground, pulling up delicate flora in quiet frustration.

"Easy, little one." The voice rumbled through her head, and she looked up at her parents in confusion. It wasn't from them-

A fluffy blur approached, and her eyes widened at the appearance of another dragon. He was different from her, and appeared to be as soft as the down of the nest around her. His mane was dark and light, the light parts warm and inviting. Metal glinted from his face, and the hatchling tilted her head.

"Welcome to the world, little one."
