Biography
Illesyr Elwynn (Ee-leh-seer Ell-win)
The Last Mortal of the Second Age
A mysterious dragon with a prosthetic arm that doesn't seem possible with current day technology. Lady Ashmane and co found Illesyr hidden in the roots of the Behemoth while investigating the strange dreams that the Auraboa have been having.
She is a serious and uptight, if honourable dragon. She will always repay those who are kind to her, and she is very grateful to Ashmane's company for rescuing her.
It turns out, Illesyr is actually a draconic reincarnation of a mortal from the Second Age. After the devastating explosion of the arcane reactor, all life was wiped out from Sornieth. But her spirit persevered, and she was reincarnated by the Gladekeeper.
Life
The second age was a time of technology. When mortals mastered the realms of science and magic gave way to towers of industry and machinery. This was the age that Illesyr came from. A world mastered by mortals where commerce, industry and science reigned.
In her previous life, Illesyr was a warrior. With a spear in one hand and a power gauntlet in the other, she fought to protect the peace. She came from a small druidic village that worshipped the Great Tree - a magical tree that gave them the gift of magic. Because of how advanced their civilisation had become, magic and science had begun to mix, creating a new branch of technology called Magitek, and the magic of the great tree was harnessed through equipment, allowing even the non-magically adept to use magic.
Whenever she was close to the Great Tree, she could hear it speak to her. The Great Tree told her that a great calamity was coming, and that they would need a guardian. She saw in her mind's eye a great darkness that threatened to consume the land. And so she began to train.
She was never patient enough to learn magic. But with the abundant technology available, she was able to harness the Great Tree's magic through her power gauntlet. She fought so that one day she can protect her village from this great darkness that was to come.
But it never came.
One day, the earth shook, and a brilliant flash washed over the horizon. It was the explosion of the great Arcane Reactor. She did not have time to react. The world was consumed by the white light, and everything was laid to waste.
Her spirit drifted in the aether, her duty unfulfilled. She did not have a consciousness at this time. But she knew she did not want to die yet. She couldn't die. Not yet. Her wish kept her spirit alive, and it was caught by the energies of the Great Tree. It enveloped her spirit and kept her safe.
And so time passed. Life and Plague were born, and the Arcanist rose from the ruins of the Arcane Reactor. The pillar collapses and the Shade once again threatens the land. And as the years go by, the energies of the great tree settle down, and coalesce at the bottom of the Behemoth. Where the Last Mortal of the Second Age now sleeps, reborn as a Skydancer.
About the Speaker
Although she has never met the Speaker directly, she may be the only person alive who still remembers her. A magi so powerful and wise that her words stopped the wars of the Second Age and single handedly brought the world to prosperity.
The Arcane Reactor was supposed to have been the ultimate culmination of their civilisation. Why did it explode? Illesyr assumed it had to have been an accident. But after having been reborn, she began to suspect something else.
The end of the Second Age was a sabotage.
Perhaps the reason she was brought back was to find out the truth behind the end of her civilisation.
