Sky

When Sky hatched, she was the last egg to hatch in her brood, the smallest of four, the runt of the litter. Even the eldest, most respected clan elder claimed that she had never seen a hatchling so small. She thought that Sky should have been thrown out of the clan, to prevent her small, runty genes from being passed on to the future generations of the clan. Sky’s parents, however, were fiercely protective of Sky, more so then their other children, because she was so small, and refused to throw her out of the clan, because they knew she would die on her own.

The elder, who could not convince them to get rid of Sky, allowed them to keep Sky, but her parents were forced to name Tinye, a name of great shame in her clan. In the privacy of their own home, however her parents called her Sky, because they believed that one day she would be as big and wonderful as the bright blue sky. However, all the other hatchings in the clan, including her siblings, and even most of the fully grown dragons bullied Sky terribly, just for being so small.

When Sky’s parents died from unknown causes, her only protection, her only shield that kept her in the clan was gone. Sky was instantly rejected from the clan and thrown out. They happily threw Sky out, not knowing that the Windsinger was watching. When the Windsinger saw the pitiful, small dragon sobbing to herself, mourning her parents and fearing what her future might be, he flew down and blessed her with a strong body and a small piece of land in his domain, so that she could start her own clan.

Sky is still aloof, and prefers to be by herself, because the traumatizing moments in her childhood made scars that no amount of time can erase, but if her clan truly needs her she will show up and complete the task, no matter what she has to pay, because she is determined to be the leader the to her clan that that her old clan didn’t have. One who will protect the clan with everything they’ve got, and always lead them to victory, even if it means laying down their own life to do it.
