Demetrius

Just an unfortunate dragon who intentionally got separated from his travel group. He falls into some ancient ruins, and keeps falling.

Down and down and down, until a bed of rot and mist catches his battered form. The beasts of the crypt step closer, salivating at his presence. Before they flee into the darkness.

Verdant eyes stare at him, unblinking, for the most part, a head tilted almost curiously.

In her hand, she held out a coin.
He asks her what use money was down here.
She tosses it to him anyway, turning and slinking back into the shadows and webs.

This coin... he's sure it's cursed, somehow. Why else would the beasts of rot and bone let him be? Some even running at the sight of him, as they fled from the presence of her before.

He finds a doorway, framing the thin sliver of a waning moon. He stands on the threshold, his gaze drawn to the darkness within.

Verdant eyes stare at him. Blinking once, curiously.

He takes a step back. And when his son opens his many, many eyes for the first time, he knew.
He knew.
